I find it interesting, fflbrgst, that you have deleted your post where you told me it would be fine to use a networking switch to control two amps. I wonder if you ever even tried it yourself, and if not then why would you recommend someone else do it?

@TheRealZap...thanks. I only wish you would have pointed me in this direction sooner because I now have trashed my amp and I don't know if it's possible or even worth repairing

fflbrgst how can I ask a manufacturer of a legitimate piece of equipment to reimburse me for my own error in connecting their equipment in an unsupported application? The switch works fine for what it was designed to be used for.

you really should have skipped the network device... as the fbv requires power and does not adhere to the IEEE 568 standard

If it wasn't the cables, then it was the switch - was it something like the NETGEAR FS105NA? This is one that 'automatically' switches over from straight-through to crossover style, and is powered. Something like this switch COULD fry a circuit board on an amp. The only way for anything to happen to the amp circuit is if something is connected wrong (crossover) and if the cables were ok, then the switch is to blame.

I know about the different types of cables. No, they were not cross cables and the switch is a standard 5 port switch.

YIKES! I suspect the network switch you used (or one of the cables) was a cross-style. Think about trying to plug two cables together, head to head - if you ran a jumper cable from one to the other straight across the gap, they would be cross-wired.
