Hi. Our Contact Us link is at the bottom of every page on our site and includes our phone number.

It's unclear what you are trying to ultimately accomplish (use Workbench software, reinstall guitar firmware), but you'd want to use the process of elimination to find where the connection problem lies. Inspect the receptacles othe Workbench interface and the Variax for bent pins and debris. You can blow them out with compressed air to clean them. Maybe the Variax cable is bad; you can buy them from here: https://www.globalfulfillment.net/gfsnet/(S(kbv14q55vhu3lz551obk1iq1))/line6/10Expand.aspx?ProductCode=98-030-0004. Make sure to unplug all non-essential USB devices. Try more than one USB cable. In case the computer is having USB bus issues, try connecting the Workbench interface to a different computer. If none of these suggestions help, you may want to replace the Workbench interface or have the Variax looked at in one of our service centers: http://line6.com/service_centers/.
