If it hasn't been subjected to rough handling since it went on the blink that more or less rules out a loose connection giving you fits. I'd lay even money on the SRAM battery being dead though.

If you have an electronics type friend that is into that sort of thing, there is a service manual online that you can down load for it. But you want to be absolutely sure they know what they are doing or they could wind up doing more harm than good.

It's a great amp and well worth keeping IMHO.

It's been handled fairly well, and definitely not dropped. Line 6 does have an authorized place for service, so I may have to just suck it up and take it there.

Off hand I'd say that for starters that the SRAM backup battery may have died on you. That would give you the symptoms of the last settings dissappearing that you're talking about.

I don't know if that is the no output problem or not but it would be worth someone checking for you. According to the service manual, the voltage drop across resistor R185 on the main board should be less than 100mV and the battery voltage should read 2.7V or better.

The no sound output could be a due to blown (shorted) power amp FET or some other power supply problem. It could also be something as simple as a loose connector inside too.

I suppose scrambled SRAM data could possibly lead to a no output problem but one would think that after the unit was powered up you could find a combination of settings that would give you some sort output at least.

Highly likely that someone needs to take a peek inside the amp for you.

Has the amp been dropped or mishandled recently?

I have a Vetta II HD (not the combo amp model) that out of nowhere stopped outputting sound from my guitar. I've tried multiple instrument cables, multiple speaker cables, and multiple guitars, so I'm certain the issue is inside the amp. Additionally, when I AM plugged in, every 5 seconds, my cabinet makes a single popping noise, that's the only sound it'll make, and it makes that noise even with no instrument cable plugged in. When the speaker cable it unplugged, I hear a faint noise inside that I can only describe as sound like an SLR camera flash charging up, which I assume is going on at the same time/duration the popping noise to my cabinet is happening.

Now, I do have other issues which includes the Vetta II always starting up on a different amp page/selection than what I previously used (in fact, it starts up on the same one all the time, and it's not channel A on page 1) and also resets my contrast to be at the lowest setting so I can't read anything on the LCD - but I'm sure this is something completely different.

Let me know if you need me to provide any other information, and thanks in advance for any help you can give!
