+1 David. It sounds like you should be turning down the Master knob if you are hitting tones that are hurting your ears. Failing that: see if you can grab a headphone amplifier. This can be set to work like a limiter so that very loud patches from the POD do not hurt your ears so badly.

Suggest you might want to initially plug the POD into some kind of amp (even stereo) and run quickly through the patches, using the volume knob to turn down the really loud ones and saving them. If you set the Looper to Pre, record a loop and leave it running this can be a quick process.

Hi,

You have to level off the volume difference between the presets by ear. You can do this by using the channel volume knob.

Example:

Start with your first preset and set the level to a comfortable volume using the channel volume knob. Save the preset.

Now navigate to the next preset and use the channel volume to "match" the overall level of the first patch. Save the second preset.

Now when you switch between them the should be roughly at the same volume level.

Hi, HD500 newb here ... there seems to be so much difference in volume (some of it almost dangerous when you're auditioning tones and one pops up that is super-loud on the headphones ... is there a way to set a global volume of all presets? Sometimes I get a preset I like, but there is hardly any volume, even though the amp model is set at 100 % ... is this when I set the mixer volume? Anyway, if I turn the master up on the Pod then the next one might be way to loud. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can best get volume levels under control ( an on-board DB meter would have been nice, or even one in the Edit software which would have been easy to do!)
