Plus, a closed cab in conjunction with the 1x12 adds that thump we all love! Mtnman, I'm assuming the Boogie is a closed cab?

Either taking the 'head' out of a 112 or 212 combo and putting in in a head cabinet or using the combo in conjunction with an external speaker box is just fine as long as proper impedance is observed (and plugging into the proper output of the amp as mentioned above). I just picked me up a Boogie 1x12 theile cab (the newer ~23" wide) to stack my 112 on top of and I'm liking it very much. I haven't had a chance to play out with it yet, but I've played it at proper club levels and like the extra thump added with the theile cab. Technically the setup won't be any louder (i.e. 40 watts is 40 watts), but the sound will be fuller and you will have more presence because you're moving more air. FWIW I purposely got the theile cab with a C90 speaker in it for variety and have a spare EVM12L to pop in, which I was going to do immediately but I'm kind of liking the mix of the 2 speakers right now. I have an EVM in my 112 combo. One thing to keep in mind is the effeciency of the speakers you use. I'd be willing to bet the overall loudness with the EVM in the theile (vs the C90 in the theile) would be a tad louder because the EVM is more efficient than the C90, but only a tad as again 40 watts is 40 watts.

This is a 1936 model Marshall 2x12 wired stereo 16ohm/mono 8ohm load and the speaker in the amp is an 8ohm load (Eminence Red, White and Blues 120W). The Eminence blends really well with the G12T-75's! So, like rf said above move BOTH to the "B" speaker output. NEVER PLUG INTO BOTH "A" AND "B" OUTPUTS!!! That's a really quick way to blow out the transformer...

Of course you can. You can either unplug your 1x12 speaker and plug in an extension cab, or move your 1x12 connecter over to the double connection and run a cab into the port next to it. You can have a Spider Valve 5x12!

my bud took a head out of a mkII 2x12 combo and made a head out of it. Epic. 40 watts, so much better.

When you say "as a head" yes you can run it to a number of different cabs as long as the ohms match correctly to the tap you are using in the back of the amp. The 112 and the 212 have the exact same amp in them, the only difference is the obvious extra speaker in the 212. It may be just a little louder, not like night and day but just a little...

I doubt that I'm gonna run out of power, but if I do, would I be able to connect this to a cabinet?

And how much of a difference is there in the output volume between the 112 and 212, is it a lot?
