I'm going to try with a new USB cable. Mine is 7 years old. Perhaps that is the problem.

Well, it worked for a week. Now the problem is back.

Guess it's time to move to another audio interface maker.

I have found a solution. At least it is working for me.

While searching on Google, I stumbled upon a thread about a similar problem with M-audio Fast Track.

They solved it by connecting the audio interface to a USB 2.0 hub, instead of USB 3.0 hub or port.

I tried the same thing here and so far it works. Maybe it crashes later, or right after I post this But at least it gives some kind of hope that it will be usable.

So, my setup right now:

Line 6 UX2 connected to USB 2.0 hub (7 ports).

That hub is connected to a USB 3.0 hub (4 ports).

That hub is connected to a Macbook Pro Retina.

Quite ridiculous, but working nicely so far

Ok, I've had my logic board replace twice (other issues) and I'm still getting the same error.

Sound is working perfectly for a while, but then suddenly stops.

For some reason, this always happens when I press play on XLN Audio demos. A flash player on their web page.

Which is leading me to believe that the Flash VM is initializing the audio interface is some way that is causing it to fail.

And this happens regardless of connecting directly to USB port or to a USB 3.0 hub. I didn't try a USB 2.0 hub, I could do that.

Now, the part that really disturbs me; all USB ports die!

The USB controller stops working until I restart my computer.

And the IO USB Controller driver in OSX is outputting a console message:

Now, doing a search on Google for "UIMRootHubStatusChange" yields a few results.

Doing a search on "UIMRootHubStatusChange HSE bit" returns only one hit, this forum thread.

Some investigative work with Google leads me to believe that this issue is not unique to Line 6 (although I can't confirm if it is the same problem, or only similar symptoms) so I'm not entirely blaming Line 6.

BUT! Line 6, you really need to investigate this! Get your engineers to find out why the hell the USB controller driver stops working!

And that USB troubleshooting guide is of no help whatsoever. This is not a user error in any way, this is a hardware/OS/driver error. And you really should look into it, or soon no Mac users will want to buy your devices.

Im also getting this problem with my UX1 on my brand new MacBook pro, can't do anything about it at all, tried everything, any fix yet?
