This is my experience:

The USB cable supplied with the unit has a very long connector body. When plugged into the Line 6 interface, it sticks out almost 2 inches. When the cable is pulled to the side, it breaks the center tab on the USB female connector on the UX2 box. This leads to intermittent connections, and if the connection goes electrically intermittent, then you lose the connection, and the software requires you to re-establish the software connection. (it says it doesn't recognize the computer or something similar).

I think this is scenario that most of the threads are experiencing. It is a weak design. My background is Electrical Engineering working in manufacturing as a quality engineer. I am familiar with electronic design and also with workmanship practices, including proper connectors and reliable designs. Line 6 - you should improve this connection quality. I am considering just replacing the connection scheme with a more robust one as a service repair with same design will just break again. I would also suggest that if a right angle usb cable is available, use that because it is less likely to fracture the female USB connector on the UX2. Thanks for reading. Feel free to ask questions.

I'm having the same problem as well. It started as a latency issue then all of a sudden it just stopped working and sent my Mac Mini (2012, 10.8.2) mental.

Bit annoyed as it worked really well on my laptop and i like Pod Farm but i made the move to a Mac as i really enjoyed my experience with Garageband and Logic and didn't expect there to be any issues (one of the reasons i chose the Studio UX2 was Mac compatibility). Now i'm wondering if this is going to be a regular or a problem that just get's glossed over and if it is i'll have to call it quits and stump up for an Apogee or something which would be a shame because when the UX2 works it's damn good.

I've raised a support ticket but i've yet to get a response (they've still got two days to respond so i'm just trying to be patient).

I'm just desperate to get it sorted as i'm in the middle of recording guitars for a few demos and it's holding me back.

Hi guys,

I had this problem too with my Line6 POD Studio UX2 on Mac Mini Late 2012 and OSX 10.8.1.

after creating ticket on support, they recommend this:

=========================================

"Try running monkey and installing drivers with the UX2 device disconnected from the computer while you do this. Then restart, connect the UX2 and run monkey. You should get the green checkmark next to drivers at this point. "

=========================================

And it works now. Before I did this, I have removed all software from Line6, that I had installed.

Hope this help!

Karol
