I'd echo kman900 on that point. It's a different approach with FRFR and since you're modelling the cab it'd be worth playing around with the amps with full power amp models. I also found that any patch with delay or reverb needed tweaking when compared to using it through a normal cab.

@kman900 A global EQ would be a god send!

Yes, i build my sounds (almost) from scratch using the complete amp/cab simulations. At home i practice over a Behringer console, small power amp and a pair of JBL Control One speakers. Our stage setup is a Dynacord (german) power mixer, two 12/3 speaker system plus an active subwoofer. Our so called monitor system is a small active monitor: http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_box_ma205_aktivmonitor.htm

As we are only a two piece band we just route a mono mix of the FOH signal to the monitor.

I actually would like to have is a programmable global EQ section in the output of the HD to adapt to different sound systems, but i get around.

Cheers for that, I'd like to avoid 'miking up' if poss as its just 'more gear' on stage and more leads on the floor which drive me insane, ideally i'd like to take two leads (stereo) out of the back and into the PA. Out of interest, and being a 'live' gigging musician...did you build your patches from scratch using the 'studio/direct' global setting knowing that you'd be plugging into a PA...I assume you then used the 'full' amp/cab options as opposed to the 'pre' amp option...or did you build your patches (as I've done) with a cab, perhaps using the power amp combo global option...and then just switch it to studio/direct??...

I assume it would be best to try both and perhaps build a couple of different patches with different i/o options and see what sounds best?!

Yup . . you can mike your existing setup, or change the HD globally to the "studio" setting and use a FSFR monitor on stage. That's how i do it on stage and i'm very stisfied with it.

Hi All,

I'm using my Pod HD Pro as my 'live' rig pre amp...basically pod hd into Roctron Velocity 300 power amp and into a 2x12 cab...sounds great all patches set up to my taste using the 'pre amp' amp sims so no cab out and into the Roctron power amp and out of that into the 2x12 cab...I'm using the 'power combo' setting on the global set up menu...that one just sounded the best....Here is my query?

When we play bigger venues I want to use our PA to push the sound out. However when I take a line out from the back of the HD Pro..the proper xlr line out to desk..the patches dont sound so great...do I need to use the 'desk/studio' option on the global menu and re tweak my patches to get them to sound better, do I also then need to change my amp from 'pre' to full with speaker cabs in order to get whats going out to be a much fuller sound. Obviously when using pre mode I bypass the cab option as I prefer to use my 2x12...but then if I plug into the line out all I'm getting is the 'pre' sound only??

Arrrgh to many options...any advice from anyone who uses these 'live' especially 'live' and DI'd through a in house PA would be much appreciated.
