My understanding and based on Line 6 guidance, you MUST DO a hardware reseting after you update as well as Pedal caliberation if you don't want to run into problems later. The link below explains it for the HD500, but it's safe to assume that it applies to all POD HD.

No, it's not necessary to do a factory reset after installing the firmware. If you did that, you wouldn't lose the firmware update, but you would lose any presets you have saved.

Greetings, I have just updated the flash memory for my HD400.

Is it necessary to makea factory reset? If I do that do I lose the flash update?
