I tried out the 69 and I can tell you that it's thick and round, like the hitting end of a baseball bat near the body. So if you like an Ibanez-like thin neck, you'll hate this one.

I don't think you can add a 24 fret neck on a 69 but I'm no expert. I'd recommend waiting for the 89 with the FR though I've no idea when it will be released.

There isn't one now but according to the following post one is in the pipeline:

There are also some posts where people have transferred the electronics from a JTV into their own guitar. Since there's no FR at the moment, for a tremelo you'd have to use a JTV-69, which does not have a locking bridge. The bridge contains the piezos used for the modeled guitars.

Hi everyone!

I'd love to have a Variax guitar, but I play in a metal band and I need a guitar for shredding (like the JTV 89, which has 24 frets) but I also would like it to have a locking tremolo system (like Floyd Rose).. I think that it's something really important for solists, but there's just the 69 with 21 frets and a Fender like vibrato system.

So my qüestion is this one: Is there any variax with 24 frets and a non fixed bridge or would I have to ask for a custom one? If I had to do this, how much more would it cost?
