I know it's not a solution inherent to the HD500, but you might want to take a look at this pedal. From the videos I've seen of it and people's descriptions, it's capable of getting some very Ebow-like tones.

yes, I know what you mean... After many tries I've come to this setup:

Delay-auto-volume ->Reverbe Octo - > dyn-boost com ; I use expresion pedal to set 100% feedback on auto-volume and this will give you infinite sustain and back to 0 to cut it off. But I found it hard to controll the feedback amount.

That's not really an effect on that song. In the recording, The Edge uses a guitar with the Fernandes Sustainer pickup in it. I believe he still uses that live, although occasionally I think he's used an Ebow. The one effect that might get you somewhat in that territory is the Auto-Volume Echo delay, but it's not quite the same. When I use that effect, I like to control the feedback parameter with the expression pedal to give me a little extra control on the length of trails. Like I said, though, it's not the same as having a sustainer or an Ebow.

I'm trying to emulate a long sustain with POD 500HD like in "U2- With or without you" but I can't find any suitable efects to do that !

Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated !
