The Pod X3 LCD screen changes and the star (*) shows up on the left side of the LCD. Which means that some setting has changed. In my case it was the tone volume that was changing. Turned out it was a scratchy tone volume pot. My solution was to back-and-forth the knob a few times, then park the knob at max. It still happens now and then. Happens a lot less when the tone volume knob is parked at max. Happens less after the X3 has warmed up, or has been turned on for several minutes. So, before use, I turn it on and let it warm up. My quick fix is to switch to another tone, then back to my original tone. It's then back to correct. When the tone gets changed by the bug, and the star shows, it's not permanent. The change hasn't been saved. So switching tones, then back puts the tone I want back to it's original (last saved) state.

Screen Cycling?

A few months ago, while hooked up via USB to my computer, the POD screen started cycling between home and whatever button was last pushed, like "amp." I didn't think much of it because ALL my tweaking was done on my computer using GearBox. Nothing was askew on my computer screen - it was only happening on the POD's LCD screen. I also have done very little, if any, tweaking using the POD's knobs, so it never occurred to me that this could be a problem.

Long story short, I've disconnected it from my computer and brought it out into my living room to hook up to my combo amp for live use. Of course, now I've discovered I have a problem as it won't stay on the screen I'm trying to tweak as it "flitters about." It kinda has a mind of its own. So, if I push the home button, it goes home for a nano second, then somewhere else. If I'm tweaking an amp, it changes screens at random.

When I use GearBox on my computer, even though the screen on the POD is changing, it doesn't affect my GearBox tweaking at all. Everything works great - all the tweaks, etc. In fact, you'd never guess anything was wrong until you started working with the POD itself.

Is it broke?

Thanks,

Bob

South Florida

I have:

Monkey 1.62

Drivers 4.2.5.4

USB Firmware 1.02

Flash Memory 2.00

Gearbox 3.72

Line 6 License Manager 1.06
