I'm sure it's frustrating for guys who have been on this forum for years, and have asked and answered these questions numerous times, to keep seeing newbies (like me) stick their heads in to ignorantly ask the same questions over again.

It's the nature of a board that lasts as long as this one has, for new people join and ask the same questions (with the same misconceptions) over again.

I for one I'm grateful for all of the information you experts dish out. And, I do try to find answers before I ask. But, it's not always easy to find them.

Just think about what you just asked. Every new buyer comes on here with the same questions and expectations. Line 6 provided the learning tools. They can't provide one-on-one training for everybody that purchases equipment. These amps are only part of their line. Can you imagine what kinda staff would be needed? Can you imagine the cost increase that would hafta be absorbed by us? That's why they have this forum and it is serving it's purpose extremely well. All the answers and info are here, from the actual users and all of their unique situations and applications...if ya look for it. Granted, there are always new situations that may arise, but, basically, it's the same questions over and over. I was guilty of this myself until this realization set in. You need to have the amp and play with it to actually learn. If ya come up with a question, more than likely the answer is already here. I'm a newbie and definitely not a fanboy, but I absolutely love the product and thoroughly enjoy the learning process. When you're learning hands-on with enough info to point you in the right direction, you learn much more thoroughly, with enough additional knowledge to answer more questions yourself as they arise. Yes, Line 6 could provide more, but they don't. That does not take away from the product at all. Yeah, we ALL get frustrated, but just remember that frustration is part of the learning process. My suggestion is to browse thru all the forum topics whenever ya have the free time and see what ya can pick up from them. You'd be surprised! And you'll develope a newfound respect for those that hang here and help the newbies like me!!!

i'm not sensitive... i just don't care for people spreading misinformation....

especially people who have just admitted they don't even have the amp....

the reason for so many people asking is because of this misinformation and it's created a loop...

can there be a difference??? sure... the implementation is clearly different...

but they are also designed to be integrated...

the difference is so minor, that it's obsessive crazy to me how much effort people put into going around the integration...

you'd get more mileage or more improvement in your tone, by changing the nut on your guitar...

you can't simply turn on the amp in the store... expect all the firmwares to be at the right level... and all the settings squared away...

you can't simply dial the pod to the same amp and expect it to sound like the DT...

there are output modes, cabs, mic emulation, input z,mixer, panning, input selections, etc etc loads of variables you aren't going to adjust in a store environment.

i don't expect you to come back and say you were wrong...

Line6 isn't here educating you because it's not what they do....

they provided you tools to make music, not a science project....

if you can't get a good useable tone... then it's the wrong gear for you....

if you insist on using midi, and doing some sort of cabling acrobatics... have at it....

I just think you'd be missing the point.

seriously i mean no offense....

i've just seen this argument time and time again...

and i'll never understand the point in bothering for 1:1 replication... when there's infinite options available that will sound farkin fantastic.

if the amp sounds better by itself to you... use however you want...

(it's all subjective anyway)

Mate. And I mean this sincerely because my amp ain't arrived yet.

(If the POD and amp do the mother humpa of a job that they are meant to I'll be the first to scream hallelujah and praise you as The Lord).

But I just find it interesting that others are finding issues enough to jump on line and request midi options.

I appreciate your help - I'm not being a smart arse. And I'll even by the mutha humpa AES/EBU cable and Mesa Boogie tubes to give the set up the best shot. But I know what I heard when testing it in the shop.

But I also know I only had 15 minutes with an amp at low volume with staff that didn't know thre shee-ite so am open to giving the time and effort that you say it needs to get right.

It arrives Tuesday. I've booked a studio to spend a couple of hours to do my own 'critiquing'

And dude - I hope I can come back being your2IC. The converted. The learned. Because then I'll be able to put my hand upand say "I had it wrong - but I finally have it right"

But lets see

There are too many people requesting mid options for me to think I'm the only one ******* it up.

The DTEdit polls your amp and tells you what the factory settings are. I created a wordpad document listing what the default settings are for each topo. I then created another document that I keep on desktop for quick reference as to what settings I've changed, so I don't hafta keep hooking up the midi cable. Just a quick click and I know what I've set up on, say, channel B - topo III. Gettin' older and the memory is goin' quick!! lol!!

the exact same pre-amps are modeled in the amp as in the pod...

either way you are feeding the analog power amp a digital pre-amp.

you're supersonic hearing or projected desire to hear a difference can be from many things....

but technically there is no difference if setup the same....

same output mode, same cab, same etc etc...

maybe your hearing is so fine tuned that the length of the cable is bothering you...

if you can't get a usable tone with pod+dt... return them get your money back...

no sense in harming your mental stability any further.

THE PREAMPS ARE THE SAME 100% the SAME, whether feed from amp or from pod.

I find it interesting that so many people (including myself) are so interested in enquiring about using the amp with midi.

Maybe I'm not the only one to hear that the pods cause digital or sterile issues.

My (and maybe others) 2c. And maybe Line 6 should be listening. This marketing (wether good or bad) is GOLD.
