pod farm 2.5 is 100% the same sounds as gearbox... so from that aspect it's more or less the same...

it has a more "eye candy" interface that some prefer and some updates beyond the older gearbox:

support for more modern operatting systems

native 64bit plugin

enhanced midi control

hardware independence

elements (single effect or amp plugins rather than full instances)

and a few years wirth of misc bug fixes.

So if I get the pod farm 2.5 its as good or better than gearbox?

ACTUALLY.... if you upgrade to pod farm 2.5 you can use that with ANY ASIO/COREAUDIO interfaces... AND.... all your packs would still work.... you just need to get the standard computer license (99$) and you're all set.

Hey Thanks. Yeah, after looking around the Line 6 site for a bit, that is about what I determined. I just got done downloading the demo or free Pod Farm to check that out. It just sucks because I had purchased all the different packages for Gearbox, that will be useless. That is just par for the course though. Been away from all this for awhile and decided to get back into it.

gearbox has always been 100% ONLY L6 hardware (toneports, pod studios, and XT/X3 to be exact) Won't work or even launch without one of those connected.

Hey Guys,

I recently pulled out one of my old laptops and rediscovered Gearbox. I used to have a Toneport UX2, but cant find it anywhere. Probably buried in a box in storage. In any case, I was wanting to fire Gearbox up again, but it does not seem to recognize any other hardware. I was trying to utilize my Allen & Heath Zed 10 as the hardware between the guitar and the computer, but Gearbox would not pull it up. I use to use Gearbox with a subsription to some other addon way back for grabbing tones and learning songs, but dont remember what it was called. I know I received an email saying they were discontinuing that service. Is Gearbox still functional or is it just dedicated to Line 6 hardware? If someone could shed some light on this or bring me up to speed that would be great. Thanks.
