I think you are on to something there.

I had problems with the firmware update the first day I had it. The update failed with a message about "midi" and the guitar was dead. A reboot of everything in the chain gave me another chance that seemed to take. That was with the little factory cable. I may try a full reset to both.

I suspect a possible damage to the vdi socket of the jtv or of the pod ..

but first do a pod global reset, and see if it solves the problem ..

theoretically would not be bad to try to reinstall also the jtv firmware, but if the vdi connection is not reliable is better if you don't try that..

No, this was happening last night in a live situation.

I've also had a couple of times when using the software (even just scrolling through the presets) that the JTV stopped changing models and even had it just seem to shut down with no output. If I pulled the VDI cable it would reset and come back.

Do you have HD500 Edit running when you are hearing this glitch? If so, try closing HD500 Edit and disconnecting the usb cable.

I just recently purchased a JTV59 and HD500 combination after having a Variax 500 and POD XTlive. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

I am getting an audible glitch / dropout when changing patches via the VDI cable. It is especially noticeable when changing tunings. It's a real problem. I used to be able to switch from Drop D to normal tuning on the fly for different parts of a song and it was smooth as silk using a copied patch that just changed tunings. Not anymore. The glitch is audible on all patch changes while playing as well.

I kept my original VDI cable but found it unreliable with the new rig. (worked great before) Now, a new Bestronics cable and things are stable but the glitch is still present. The overall rig seem to have worse latency than before too but that's a different discussion.

If this is "normal" then I will have to return the whole rig.

Thoughts?
