I can verify that as I have made that adjustment to get a little more backwards movement on the whole bridge to tweek the intonation of the strings I use -- needed a little further back for the bass strings to make them sound right. The bridge pieces had bottomed out all the way back. I had the same problem on my Variax 300, but had no way to go back any further... I compromised on that one by raising my action some, but didn't like it much. This also has it's limits as you can screw in the hex screws so that they go out the other end and fall out (did that -- had to make sure I didn't lose the screw -- whew -- found it...)

heh never knew there was a forwards an backward for the whole bridge. Thanks for the info I was having an issue with intonation that will be fixed by that.

For the JTV59 you will need a wrench for each of the following:

1) Saddles (backwards and forwards) - this is not a conventional wrench as at the long end it narrows before the end and then fattens back out to a small nodule, whereas a conventional wrench is same size throughout its length.

2) Bridge Height adjustment

3) Bridge (backwards and forwards)

4) Truss Rod

You actually get 5 items in the supplied wrench set with your JTV59. 4 conventional and 1 special for the saddles. Not sure what the 5th wrrench is for.

The bridge height adjustment uses a 3rd one - but I don't know what size it is.

Other than the one for the truss rod (I think that's the 4mm) and for the saddle adjustment, what other one would you need for the 59?

Well, that diagram shows one wrench for the JTV 59.

I remember the 59 I sent back had more than one... I seem to remember there being at least 3

Not all models need all six sizes listed. I think the pictures in that document more clearly spell out what sizes are specific for what model.

I got my 59 used, and it doesnt have any tools with it.
One of the first things I did was put the strings I like on it.
Of course, I need to adjust the intonation, but I dont have the proper tool.

I dont really want to drag my variax into a hardware store.
Does any one know what size allen wrench is needed for the intonation?

What about the other ones? What are they for and what sizes are they?

If I recall, the JTV comes with 3 or 4 of these allen wrenches...
