Sorry, that should say, I don't use LVM!

I have found controlling from a Pod makes things much more flexible and user friendly.

Apologies, misread. I don't have the same problem, although the JCM is really really loud and I am finding the new amp models seem to fleet their relative volumes more so than they used to. I into use LVM, I prefer pedals. Are using a POD too?

Ah no I mean the JCM800 specifically. The Plexi, JTM45, Fenders etc are all much, much lower in volume (LVM= low volume mode). Is anyone else finding this with the JCM800 model?

I think that might be because a Marshall Plexi is ridiculously loud! I find controlling from the HD500 is much easier. The L6 link is great and it also takes pedals really really well.

I'm kind of having the opposite problem, when I select the JCM800 patch it is ridiculously loud! The Plexis, JTM45 and Fenders all seem as if they are on LVM in comparison. Could I be doing something wrong or have other people noticed this too?

Yup, Spaceati is right (as usual).

What I do for my DT25 Channel A (using a Clean Fender amp NFL 1) is dime BOTH Master volume and Channel volume then add "Drive" to get the necessary level I need. In essence then, the Drive setting on Channel A is providing the master volume level. Works for me. I don't find with the Fender Amp (NFL1) that the Drive adds noticeable crunch. I am usually at ~1 o'clock'ish + for the Drive.

On channel B, I set it for the desired "crunch factor" .... For my needs, I normally use the AC30 setting (NFL 3) for grunginess. The Drive level determines the amount of "grungineess" and then the Channel Volume is used to match the volume I have on Channel A. I think it is normally somewhere in the vicinity of 11 o'clock'ish with a fair amount of Drive level (sometimes max). Obviously for the other NFL's (2-3-4) you will need a much more reduced Channel volume to equate to the Fender's level on Channel A.

A footswitch lets me easily go back and forth between the two channels and I adjust the B Channel Volume to make the transition between them work appropriately. I always dime my Master Volume on the DT25. A foothswitch changed everything for me and I can't believe I waited so long to get one. You'd think L6 would include a footswitch with the DT amps??? ... old Leo Fender got it right by doing that from the beginning.

I really like the "Classic American Clean" so that is my stock reference. At first, I had a hard time getting the level I needed until I realized that the Drive doesn't crunch it much, and can be used for extra gain with both Channel and Master volumes dimed.

I also have a HD500 but currently I use it strictly as a Multi Efx pedal and use the DT amp's internal preamps. With an Amp footswitch you can use both A & B channel's preamps even if the 500 is set for "no amp model". A little trick I learned after the fact.

That's a Fender model on NFL 1....That's actually normal as a Twin or Deluxe has no gain control...just one volume...dime the channel volume and use the drive for volume when using NFL 1...tonestack completely changes between amp models (NFL)...

Hi,

I love my DT25 head, however, since I upgraded to firmware version 2.0, I have noticed that the topology 1 setting is noticeably quieter than it used to be in, and also in comparison with the other 3 topologies REALLY quiet!

The head is barely kicking out any volume when both drive, voume and master voume are all at 12 o'clock. This never used to be the case. It's a nightmare when switching from channel A to B as the master volume is so high, it's making the other 3 topologies too loud for stage!

Can you advise as to why this would be? Is it a more accurate reflection of the volume of the topology it is based on? I don't think it can be, as Fender style amps (the twin which I believe topology 1 is based on) is very loud.

It is really frustrating as I want to upgrade the firmware, but have reverted to frimware 1.0 as the topology 1 is useable live - it isn't possible to use it live on firmware update 2.0 as it's so much quieter and the master volume has to be so high.

Your thoughts are very welcome.
