Both speakers will produce the same volume. The real advantages of two are:

- the extra mixer (which you wouldn't need to just run the HD Pro)

- stereo sound vs. mono

- wider/more coverage

For venues like a small pub one speaker would do just fine. For venues of 100+ people you probably want two. It really depends on unpredictable things too, like room configuration.

I am using the HD Pro with two L3t speakers now. The sound is incredibly crisp and clear - so much better than my previous (admittedly, budget-value) portable PA system. I have no problems with volume; for studio/practice purposes I connect the HD Pro to the L3t using L6 LINK and I need to have the speaker volume controls at no more than 20% to avoid hurting my ears. I expect these two speakers would easily be able to fill the room at your gigs (unless you are playing to more than 2 or 3 hundred people).

The reason I chose the L3t rather than L3m is because of the onboard mixer. With two L3t I don't need any other mixer for solo/duo performances. Together the two speakers have enough inputs and felxibility to handle two guitarists, two vocalists, and two other Line In devices (e.g. mp3 player).

There is a forum dedicated to the stagesource speakers. Recommend using the L6 link cable!
