it takes volume to get tone... at least from a tube amp... and the only way to tame it to reasonable volumes is by using an attenuator or having a very low wattage tube amp.

plenty of smaller simpler pro amps out there besides... the vox night train, the orange tiny terror, blackstar makes a few...

"if you want a pro amp get a pro amp.... you should look into attenuators that will lower the volume" this is what im talking about. -_- why is it so hard to make a pro amp and a low volume. the funny thing is there are more ppl like me who dont gig or tour around the country than there is ppl who need a 50-100 watt amp. ppl who work 40-60 hours a week and want to come home to a great amp and rig they can play at any time of the day with out waking the ppl in the apartment building or disturbing the ppl in the other room.

if you want a pro amp get a pro amp... you should look into attenuators that will lower the volume for you while still giving you that pro amp tone.

a good example would be a dr z airbrake.

I know i cant be the only one here thinking about this. and before anyone starts screaming, i know there are companys like line 6 who are trying to make good low watt amps. However i dont think any company has really come close. IMO i think the problem is the companys out there are not trying to give us a great low volume amp. instead they want to give us a practice amp. the way of thinking on the subject is wrong. the amp companys out there think all we need is some low watt tube amp or SS amp with a 3 band EQ and some crapy built in effects and slap a 12" speaker in a crappy wood combo and say " ok here you go" when what we really want is the 100 watt version at a low 10-20 watt SS volume that we can actually crank in our bedroom or in my case apartment with out getting told " your to loud". also the look and features are something to be improved on to. i am not a gigging musician. but that doesnt mean i dont want a midi switchable effects and amp rig in my home. or a foot controllable effects loop and channel selector. i might be wrong here, since i dont know anything about building amps. i only play them. but i think what we need is a tube driven pre amp with a tube simulated SS power amp at 10-20 watts, multiple independant channels, real reverb, midi in and out, foot switchable fx loop and channle selector, solid wood construction, and a 4 8" speaker cab. maybe not 8" but something smaller than 12 for sure. anyone else have any other ideas? am i crazy thinking we might need something like this? idk what do you think?
