We practice at the other guitar player's house. He found it today in his basement. I bought the other one and will see if I can modify it so I have a good spare. That leg really does a lot more than it looks like it does.

Maybe use some of the glue to fill it in to the shape properly.

Yes, it works fine as long as you know where you are. Once you get to Custom 2, it keeps moving and eventually gets back to Custom 1. I am assuming that is why the leg is on the knob to give it the finite range.

I found the attached pic on this forum in a search. It shows the leg on the right side of the pic.

However, it doesn't have the plastic leg on the bottom. I am assuming the 300/600 series share this. The shaft of the pot has the D-shaped top so it's keyed... and the leg keeps the switch from just continually spinning. The one on eBay looks like it's knurl for a force fit type deal. Definitely going to put a drop of Elmers or something on there when I get a new one.

i know the labeling is... i'm just not sure about the backside, being that he said there is some sort of stopping mechanism that i'd never been aware of.

Heya Zap, aren't the 69's the same knob as the old variaxes? I'm pretty sure they are.

I literally saw a modeling knob on ebay before when searching for a V1 Variax to buy, but that's probably a very rare occurance.

If you do find it, put a little glue on that sucker next time.

Does your modeling selector still work though?

Recently, the model select knob on my Vax 600 will fall off if I turn the guitar upside down; to put on new strings, put in the batteries... I changed strings yesterday and it fell off. I put it back on, and was pretty sure it was on the guitar when I put it back in the bag. I got to practice and didn't pay attention. I turned it over to put in the battery pack and noticed it was gone when I turned it back over. The damn thing was nowhere to be seen. I checked everywhere around where I was sitting, and when I got home checked around where I had changed strings... nothing. Is this available still, or am I out of luck? I replaced it with an old submarine sonar knob I had from some scrap I brought home when I worked for the Navy. It works pretty good, but now I know what the little leg on the bottom of the knob does. The selector switch just continues to spin... the leg stops it. Tonight should be interesting...
