I would like as much feedback as possible on this. I am running a POD HD 500 into a DT 50 2X12, with a Dr Z Airbrake.

It sounds pretty good, and I'm sure with more tweaking, it can sound even better. I just got the amp back from the shop

after having the power transformer replaced (unfortunately out of warranty).

I was already a little tired of the weight factor of moving the combo around whenever I play, and since having to spend

over $200 (plus gas to drive 170 miles round trip) to the service center nearest me, I'm considering switching form the

DT to a pair of Tech 21 PE 60s, which would be lighter and allow for a stereo setup.

I would love to hear as many pros and cons for both options (switching or keeping the DT)

POD HD500 Edit and the DT50 "Hidden" Parameters

The POD HD500 Edit program is great. But, it sould have a way to change the DT50 "Hidden" parameters, especially the 12AX7 Boost.

I see controls in POD HD500 Edit for the power amp operating class, power amp tube configuration, and the topology.

But, there are no controls for these parameters:

• 12AX7 Boost (on DT50 amplifiers only)

• Phase Inverter B+ Voltage (on DT50 amplifiers only)

• Feedback Capacitor type (on DT50 amplifiers only)

I believe these parameters are changed based on the amp model selected. But, since they are DT50 specific, they may be excluded to avoid conflicts.

Does anyone know if these parameters are important enough to care about, or if there are plans to update POD HD500 Edit to include them?

DT-50 cabs/speaker alternatives

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is using anything other than the DT-50 4x12 cab that goes with the head??

I am using a 2x12 cab loaded with a Celestion V30 and a G12hot-100 running at 8 ohms and is a closed back cab.

The issue I am having is I think I am getting speaker and tube breakup before I reach a loud volume ( I think the V30 starts to sound muddy when the volume and gain is pushed)

I am having problems at band rehearsals not cutting through over our drummer (who is a very hard hitter), we play

in the style of heavy/hardcore hi-gain dropped tuned metal. I have also tried putting the 2x12 cab on a milkcrate, which

works BUT it sacrifices my original eq settings (lose the low end mainly), so I wont be doing that...

I was thinking maybe a 2x12 cab loaded with Celestion G12K-100's, which would make it 200 watts and give me more head room for gain etc???

OR just buy the Line 6 Dt-50 4x12 cab (which I originally did not want to buy because of the hassle of carrying a bulky cab to and from gigs)

Does anyone think higher wattage speakers in a 2x12 would sound similar and be a good compromise to say lugging around a big 4x12 cab?

Or is it a "CATCH 22" situation where only a 4x12 would solve it?

AES/EBU Data Cable

Does anybody know where I can purchase an AES/EBU data cable in Canada to connect the DT-50 to my HD500? I tried twice at Long & McQuade, but they are not interested in ordering it.

Currently, I have an HD500 and hate the sound of my current amp. Would I gain anything by purchasing a DT50-112 vs a DT50-212 amp?

Based on you experiences, is it worth the extra bucks?

Attenuator on DT

I added a Weber Mini Mass 50 Watt attenuator to my DT25 ($80 used on ebay) and it has been one of the best investments ever. I am finally getting the sounds I knew were there out of my dream rig (JTV- 59 POD HD500 DT25) as well as with just my Stratocaster to the DT or via the POD HD500. With the DT Master at about 2 o'clock the great tones come right out at small room tolerable volumes. I also added BBE Sonic Maximizer in the DT fx loop which adds to the overall sound clarity. I recommend both but the attenuator made the biggest difference for me. I can now actually use some of the POD provided presets which always sounded so poor to me. If you need to play at low volumes for practice or at home this is the way to go and a better sound than the LVM. Once you set you POD tones you only need to adjust the Volume setting on the attenuator and never have to touch the master control again if you are playing in a setting needing more volume.

Latest DT-50 firmware update

Has anyone updated their dt-50 with this latest firmware?

Does it sound any different?

I use mine as a stand alone amp with just a wah, tuner and noise suppresor.

Should I bother going out and buying a MIDI interface for this update?

And if yes how would I access the latest updates with just the head alone?

Not really interested in spending hundreds on MIDI devices and what ever else just for an update that I may or may not be able to use anyway...

If you have a M-Audio Uno and DT50/25 there is something you should know, for updating.

The suggested connection on line6 to computer is wrong for Uno users. The connection should be

Uno <to midi out> = <out> DT50/25,

Uno <to midi in> = <input> DT50/25

I hope this helps in your hour of frustration.

anyone using the M13 with the DT50??

I was thinking about dropping my POD HD and using the head by itself and getting a m13 for effects... I mainly use a Mesa setting and Vox setting for my main tone in my band and just use 4 presets on my pod.. Any plus's or minus's to doing this?? I like the pod sound but still feel the amp by itself sounds better..

Also is there a noise gates on the m13??
