Is my new JTV guitar going to work with my Vetta II just like my old Variax?

Answer I should have changed to which is now 100% verified and correct many months ago is NO. They will not work together as the older Vax guitars do with the Vetta...No patch changing or saving between the two units is possible with a JTV guitar unless you have either the POD HD500 or the POD HD PRO.

The Vetta "sees" the JTV guitar via the VDI connection as a Variax Acoustic Model 700 for reasons unexplained, plus it will save ONLY the tone knob setting on any guitar patch you have on your JTV.

I will post this message as my opening post on this new forum. Any other findings, opinions, etc. regarding my JTV Model 59 and the new Workbench will be posted there for all to read and hopefully assist in making their new JTV experience a positive one.

I've decided to start this forum brand new and begin with just a simple introduction.

I'm a Beta person working under Rich Renken of Line 6 and I currently have a Tyler Variax Moel 59US prototype guitar.

I also have purchased an HD500 POD pedalboard, and DT50 2-12 combo amp. These three items are supposed to be the FLAGSHIP line of products Line 6is and has been promoting as uantum leaps forward in modeling. The DT50 is a Bogner/Line 6 combination of an all tube pre/power amp with the Bogner selection of preamp tubes, power tubes, transformer, and other guts of that nature - COMBINED with Line 6's computerized 4 mode switching system, triode/pentode preamp switch, Class A_Class A/B Power amp switch, plus the push/pull knob to switch the amp from full power to half power.

Accompanying all this hardware is the new software written from the JTV line of guitars - the new WORKBENCH. The new EDIT for the POD HD series. The DT50 has no dedicated software, but CAN BE accessed through the new POD HD EDIT software when working with a patch for the POD HD.

These are all the bits of new Line 6 gear I am devoting this forum to. Yes, there will be many comparisons to other Line 6 gear I have or have used in my over seven year relationship with Line 6 starting as a very basic consumer.

I have tried posting MY personal experiences AS I HAVE THEM and WHAT THOSE EXPERIENCES ARE. I think they are too scattered around the various forums. I've also got one remark about posting the same thing on more than one forum. I guess that person doesn't understand that everyone on certain Line 6 forums might not read other forums and I was just trying to be thorough. Many of my initial posting over several other forums need to be modified and others plain ole' corrected.

Now with all this pre-start info posted, I'll be back with my latest findings regarding all three pieces of new Line 6 gear. This will be the only place I post my findings as I work through learning all the ways the products have to work in order to get the results expected. not to say that I will ever stop answering questions posted in other forums I have correct and factual answers to.

And I almost forgot to start out by saying this to everyone and anyone who either has or is thinking of buying any of these pieces of gear, and especially regarding the HD500. If you are not someone who has minimal computer skills, a good laptop or desktop PC or MAC, LOTS of patience and a desire and willingness to LEARN how all this specific piece of gear works, then I strongly suggest you send it back or not bother making the purchase in the first place. The HD line of POD products IS NOT plus and play - far more so than any other piece of new or previous gear Line 6 has designed and produced!!

I'll be back with my current findings and some corrections I need to make about some previous ones. This forum is designed to HELP educate, share knowledge, learn as we go and as patches/updates are offered and those changes they cause. Nothing else and even if my or another opinion thinks something new is not better in all aspects to something older - there is nothing wrong with those points of view in my opinion. Those will certainly be welcomed here as well as other players experiences and tips on how to best use all this new gear/software will be.
