Hey, I am an absolute beginner concerning pc-recording. Even less than that, I have never done it before.
My Problem is that I have absolutelly no idea what I have to do ... Beginning with simple things like "can I record with the line6 pocket pod without an Amp" or "which software do I need to install the Pod on my PC so recording over a USB-Port is possible" ... I would really appreciate help with this issue ... And please don't judge me for not knowing anything about it ... thanks alot, Lóuro ....
Hi, you may want to try AUDACITY, google it and follow it from there, this is free to download and it is an audio editor and recorder. You can also download LAME MP3, this enables you to import mp3 files and it converts you files so you can export them as mp3's.You should be able to record via your pod with this. If you try it and it works ok for you, let us know what you think. Your views may be some use to somebody else.
Reaper is much more robust than Audacity.
Hi, I suggested audacity because it's free and the only one I have tried. If you think reason is better, let people know why you think so, maybe by giving us your views on both . It may help them one way or the other. I too am a beginner and am trying things via suggestions from sites like this. Any help you can give to us 'newbies', would be appreciated.
Thanks for the comment.
Alrighty....
While Reaper isn't "free" it is distributed as uncripple with a 6-second bug screen.
Here's a few points....
You'll spend alot of time staring at the program so it should be a pleasant experience.
Audacity looks like hell. I think we can all agree on that.
Reaper looks great out of the chute and has an intiutive interface.
You can pretty much right-click your way through Reaper.
There's an entire forum dedicated to Reaper skins.
Check out these UI screenshots.
Talk about painful....Audacity makes you jump through hoops to get VST working properly
and then makes no promises that the VST's native UI will even work.
Reaper not only supports VST but comes with a slew of plug-ins to get you started.
MIDI
Audacity allows you to import MIDI...game over.
Reaper has full MIDI support
Sheesh I should work for those Reaper guys.
I have used them all; ProTools, Sonar, Cubase, Vegas....
I always come back to Reaper.
reaper is obviously you preffered choice. not knowing too much about this, the more info we have makes it easier to make a choice. i will take a look at reaper myself. thanks for your reply and views.
Hey fellas......pc recording, like most things has a learning curve. It's certainly going to take you some time to figure out what you like and understand vs. what you don't. Everything is trial and error. I use cakewalks guitar tracks pro but it's old and relatively out of date. I've looked at reaper myself and think it's a positively great deal for the money. Im gonna include a link here for anyone interested. It's a forum for nothing but pc recording and one of the most comprehensive sites I've seen yet. It will certainly keep you busy reading articles and a excellent place to learn about things you may not fully understand. Here it is www.tweakheadz.com
can you record with a pocket pod without an amp?.........Yes
All you need to record onto a pc with pocketpod is the supplied usb cable. No other drivers are necessary. You will need some type of recording program as discussed earlier.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
