Help with POD xt Live/Propellerhead Record - no sound

I finally got Record in the mail, set it up, prepared to record and... nothing.

Finally, I realized that one must use the ouput on the POD to hear the guitar.

 

Bottom line up front, I want to be able to hear the guitar and drum tracks at the same time, while recording.

The monitor button is turned on, it will record, but I have to switch sound from the POD setting to the normal sound card in the preferences/audio menu.

 

How do I set it up?

    Sorry,

    Here's some more information:

     

    I'm hooking up through USB into my laptop. I can hear guitar through the outputs on the pedal, but not through the computer. I only get a weird digital noise when I try record over a track and listen to everything through the pedal.

    Are you running any monitors from the outputs on the pod?

     

    If not you should. Then change the asio in the audio section under prefrences back to the line 6 one. You should use the usb to connect the pod to the laptop if your not already, you will then here drums and all other tracks through the pod audio card (the monitors), and your pod master volume with act as global, input volume controls your instrument input only.

     

    btw add reason 4. if possible nice combo for record and line6

      I bought the Reason/Record duo. So far it's awesome

       

      I'll be getting a headphone adapter in the mail soon, enabling use of the jack on the POD. Also, I have a USB sound interface on the way; I'm pretty sure this is a hardware problem with my computer's sound...

      I have successfully recorded no riffs with Record... I say "successfully," because I can get it to record, but it skips, almost like it's missing parts of the sound. I downloaded Audacity, and that occasionally gets a riff recorded without screwing it up, but it's really hit or miss. I've played with the latency and quality settings, but they don't make a significant difference... I even tried all the help files I've found that looked related.

      When the USB interface gets here, that should solve it.... I hope.....
