pod x3 factory setting

I bought a new pod x3 and i was wondering if i sould update
the drivers, flash memory and the software pod x3 version 2
through line 6 monkey because....
when I've had Podxt and i did so, it was not possible for me to go back to the factory settings,
flash memory erased that option.
line 6 writes about it that it is not possible, the only thing possible to do is to transphere only the tones.
so my question is: if i will update the drivers and the flash memory and the update for pod x3 version 2 for pod x3,
will i still be able to set the pod x3 to the factory settings afterwards?
hope you can help me with this, thanx
Here's my 2 cents..........
Yes, you should update all software and drivers.
I think you will be able to restore the factory settings afterwards, but just in case....
Before updating, use Gearbox or Monkey to back up any settings you wish to restore later, including factory settings. All of the factory loaded tones in the non-USER folders (Songs, Vocals, Clean, Crunch, Heavy,...) are available for download anytime. You can then use Gearbox to load them into your X3 after updating.
thanx for your help, is it possible to back up also the flash memory?
before installing gear box, do you perhaps know if
i'm running windows 7, in the line6 software there's no gear box for windows 7 yet
do you know if i can use the gear box available for vista on my windows 7, will it work?
thanx
there is an updated gearbox for windows 7, its just not listed properly... look for gearbox for vista, it's 100% compatible and supported for windows 7
