does it sound like a demo or like a finished song?
marlow,
You have a fair amount of string/fret buzz in your guitar, but otherwise, it sounds quite good! Please elaborate on the vocal (nice singing!) recording process.
yes, the string/fret buzz is there on purpose...
i hit the guitar quite hard... in fact i bought that guitar because the action was so high that it suited my playing style... i like the breaking up sound when i really whack the guitar hard... i like hearing the "boom" --
on some sections i think the truss rod even starts vibrating... heh heh... i have had a couple comments of "i love the bass guitar" which cracks me up... but i guess i understand what they mean...
on normal "low" action guitars i can't play this way because there is no where for the strings to go... the immediately squish against the guitar and sound crap... all i get is a tiny tinny thud...
i also left in the "breathing" sounds, can you hear them? i love hearing all this kind of stuff in recordings...
vocals were recorded in one take... as were the guitars... i then copied and pasted the vocal and ran it through random distortion and eq to get it sounding just crap enough for the right effect...
there is only 1 acoustic guitar for the main rhythm part and 1 acoustic guitar part for the solo at the end...
on the new version i've taken out some of the vocal distortion effects as i think the main vocal should stand more on itself... debating doing a new guitar solo... one that has more of a climax at the end... but thinking it might overpower the vocal... what do you think?
That was really good.
hey thanks dude...
was the tambourine too loud at the beginning?
grrr... i'll be happy with this song soon... i don't know if its just the problem of recording at home, that you keep working on things and fixing things when you should just let it be...
marlow,
In the beginning, I think the tambourine IS too loud. Hard to say for sure (without hearing them back-to-back), but I think I liked the original mix better, especially the first half. Both sound good though. For me, I liked the distorted vocals louder (in the first mix).
thanks guys...
i've just been told there is some kind of voting thing going on... so if any of you guys could give is a Vote for Hell would be appreciated... ha ha...
