Data Error when trying to install driver update

After updating Line 6 monkey, I attempted to update the new driver for my Studio Pro ux2 and keep getting a data error ( cyclical redundancy error ) and I am unable to connect my ux2.
I use windows xp, 2002 service pack 3. Plenty of speed 2.50 ghz, 180 gb space available. never run into this problem before udpating. Used the uninstaller ( drivers only ) and attempted to update again with same message.
Need help!!!
Thanks

How are you trying to update the driver? Did you download from the website and run the installer? DO you have the CD in the computer? Take out the disk if it is inserted.
If the problem persists, I recommend completely uninstalling all Line 6 software and downloading the latest Gearbox 3.71 software, then download the 4.0.2.3 driver directly from our website to install.
Let me know if you need further info.

As indicated above, I updated the Line6 Monkey, so I tried that way first....udpated Monkey, than attempted to use the Monkey as i have all previous times to just update the driver by hitting install updates for my Studio Pro UX2.
That is where it downloaded, than plugged UX2 back in, continue anyway - and after running for a few minutes, the error reads (" data error, cyclical redundancy problem" ). Than I did just as you explained, I went right to the website for the download and attempted the same thing......with the same result. Unfortunately since it didnt work, I was unable to even reload the older version to get my Studio Pro UX2 to work at all. My only solution was to roll back the computer to a previous day when it did work.
I have researched the error message.....and even followed some simple techniques: defrag, check disk for errors that took 6 hours on a 250 gb system, and attempted the process again...still no luck.
I did also use the Line6 uninstaller....I only uninstalled the drivers ( not all line 6 software ) and that ended up with the same result.
At this point, I am completely frustrated......and running out of options but to take the computer into a shop, unless you have some other ideas other than listed below to uninstall ALL of my line 6 software, where even if it didnt work....i would only become more frustrated. Just seems like something is holding it back from working.
I am sure it is a simple fix.....it reads the UX2 as new hardware every attempt, and when I roll back the system, so I am pretty confident it is not the hardware. ( becuase I am using it now rolled back a few months ) I am constantly recording each day with several projects and other artists around the world...so even missing out for a day or two is troublesome, as I am sure you can imagine.
I mainly use POD Farm, not gearbox ( this is more for the bass models for me ), but always update for everything I can.
My question would be at this point, since I am not using Windows 7, is that a problem? The update for this new driver indicates it works compatible with it? Also, do I need this driver update? I have also been able to update before with no compications....so, again, just frustrated.
Any other ideas, thoughts would be great help. Would like the updated driver and be compliant.

Just to be clear with your latest response, you were able to install an older UX2 driver and it is now working on the same computer that was giving you the cyclical redundancy error?

NO, I rolled back my computer to a previous start date ( system restore ) when the system was working. That is the only way I can get it to work at this point.
I am unable to load new driver or the older driver after I have attempted to download the new driver. I have also changed my browser from Firefox to Internet Explorer 8, but have been hesitant to try again and go through the process of rolling back the computer again.
Any other questions? or ideas how to resolve my issue to install new driver and updates as Line6 announces them? At this point, it seems as if I am unable to take advantage of your products and services until this is resolved.
Appreciate your help in this matter.

Hello,
Windows XP is fully supported by us so that is not the problem.
What's strange is the a CRE error usually applies to bad DVD/CD drives or even bad discs.
It can also imply that the software you are downloading may be corrupted so when the drivers are actually being sent to a location, your computer may recognize the corruption and throw that error.
Do you have any anti-virus software running? Pop up blocker software? Download accelerators? These are a couple of things that have been known to corrupt our drivers during the download process.

Hey Line8Miller,
I do actually have McAvee that is just always on. It has Virus protection, spyware, firewall, etc. on at all times. If that is the only hold up, that is awesome. My question would be: is there a way to simply turn that off and then download the new driver? Also, I dont remember having to do this before, but I know it has been a while since there was an udpate for my unit.
I have everything working well right now, so I am cautious of attempting this again.....but I guess you go big, or go home!
If you have any simple methods that the firewall / virus protection thru MacAvee is corrupting the download....and how to turn it off during that download, that would be helpful.
Thanks....let's hope that does it.
** ps, what will the new driver do better than the old one?
