POD XT Power Supply

I just bought the third power supply for my POD XT. They break at the strain relief for the low voltage side. I'm an Amp Tech and thus more careful about how it's handled and stored than many and they still break. Actually, a new design with a switching power supply would be a lot better. I have a Hilton Volume Pedal that has a switching power supply and it is as cold after 8 hours of being plugged in as it is when I take it out of my case. The POD XT power supply runs hot.

  The units last about 1 1/2 years so it's past the 90 day warranty.

  I have submitted a "feature request" suggesting a switching power supply be used rather than the conventional type now used. I plan on looking for a switching power supply to replace the Line 6 model, if I can find one. As I am an amp tech, I'm fully aware of the voltage and amperage requirement.

I have had the same experience. The good folks at Line 6 did send me a new one, but it's incrediblly hot after just an hour. Considering I generally plug in for 3-4 hours at a time, you can imagine how hot the powersupply is. It won't scald, but would serve as a small heating pad.

I have just gone through my 3rd power supply -they become SUPER hot, and last about 6 months Too bad-I really love my POD-

Buy the one used for the POD 2.0 that is made by LIne 6. They are the same. I purchased one in August and it works and feels perfect.

  i own an old POD from the early days labeled "Pedal", its power supply says 1200mA.
  The one for my POD XT says 2000mA and both, the supply and the XT warm up quite more than the old Pod does.
  and btw, I cannot use the old supply for the XT, cos this would cause the units to heat up too much
