I use Cleartone strings on my 705 bass.  The low B string (130) for this brand is not fully wound all the way to the ball end.  As a result, the part of the string that sits on the piezo bridge is a smaller guage than the nominal 130.  In addition, the fully-wound part of the string extends onto the tuning machine (also not ideal).  Is there any way to adjust the string so the fully wound part extends from the bridge to the nut?  Is this even a good idea?  I've considered tying a knot at the ball end (using needlenose pliers or something).
