F# on Acoustic Models on Variax 300 Electric Very Loud/Bassy

I have a Variax 300 Electric and for some reason on the acoustic models the F# on the low E string is really loud and bassy. No other note seems to have this problem and when I play a F# chord in a progression it's really noticable.

It is especially noticable when I use the retuning options in workbench. At the moment I have retuned to DADAAE and when I play an F#m chord (444000) the bass is so loud, but when I play Esus4 (222000) it's just fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    TC

What are you playing it through? PA? Guitar amp? The reason I ask is it sounds like it's an EQ problem with the amplifier part of the chain, not the guitar input stage.

When all else fails, and before you tear your variax apart, FACTORY RESET, FACTORY RESET, FACTORY RESET.  I know this can be a problem for some Variax owner's who have not backed up their personal settings or do not know how to do so. The factory reset might just do the trick to resolve your (fuzzy and distorted A string) dilemma.

YES! I forget about this option, since I've never had to do this with mine. This should always be the first attempt at fixing any variax sound problem.

I haven't used mine in so long, how do you do a factory reset?

squiggy, You will need the Line 6 Workbench. So If you have the Line 6 Workbench, you will hook it up to your guitar and computer and make sure it's operational. Next, on your computer you will Locate the Line 6 Monkey app. and throw it in the trash. next you will go to the line 6 Website and go to downloads, select Line 6 Monkey and download it, next you will open the Line 6 monkey app., next you will click OK and an update window will open. on the list you will see "flash memory" which you will highlight and then over to the right you will click "update selection" this procedure will take a while, and should perform the factory reset. I use a mac , so if you have a pc, your updates window might be or look a little different. I perform this reset every so often. The variax memory chip seems to be prone to data corruption. So this is why we need to make this fix now and then. I just performed this reset before sending this reply, and it's like a breath of fresh air, However I do keep a backup of my presets on my computer drive and on CD. I hope I didn't hypnotize you with (next you will do this and next you will do that). Trying to contact the technocrats at LIne 6 is often hard or even next to impossible to do, I think they might be asleep at the wheel. I hope this will lead to a favorable outcome for you.

I have the exact same problem but on de C# (on the low E and A strings).

I immediatly reflash my vax 600 but the problem is still on and not only on the acoustic models but also on two of my custom patch (i didn't had much time so i forgot to try others and now i'm gone for the we...).

If anyone figured out how to fix this without killing your tone by adding a strong EQ it would be nice to share :-)
