Hi,
I´ve recently upgraded to a higher quality console and am experiencing some distortion on my 2 XD-V70L´s now (I went from a Behringer to a Soundcraft). I´ve tested the console and channel strips; that´s fine. Gain levels are set correctly too. Used two sets of new Alkaline batteries. Then I´ve tried both your lav as well as two headworn mics, but the two sets are showing the same problem. Especially on low level 'oh'-s and 'ah'-s.
What to do?

What mics are you using? It requires an input exceeding 6v to clip the input. That your require some serious screaming with a very high output mic.
More likely you are experiencing clipping at the input of your mixer. If you are trying to corolate the AF LEDs with the metering of your channel strip you probably have the trim on your mixer set too high. The top AF LED lights at -30dB FS so set the channel to match.
Thanks for your reply, but I think you´re getting me wrong. There is no distortion caused by clipping, it is clearly noticeable on low levels. Rather at whispering level than at screaming level (we do theatre). I experience no distortion when plugging in a SM58 (cabled) on the same channel.
I´m not trying to corelate the two. I monitor the channel by PFL and set my gain while using my normal acting/speaking voice to around 0dB. When I lower the volume of my voice the distortion is clearly there. If I then insert my compressor it is - of course - even more noticeable.
I notice this distortion with both your lav mic as my Beyerdynamic Opus 54.18 headworn mic.

Yeah ... I assumed you meant clipping. If you are hearing low level distortion and you have isolated it to the wireless and not to the "system connection" then I guess you'll need to send them to the service dept to be checked out. I have not heard of this problem before.
Do you have a way to check the wireless system by itself maybe by looking at it with an oscilloscope? When you go back to the old mixer can you hear it? I assume since you can hear it it could not have been hidden by the tiny difference in the noise floor of the two mixers. Can you try it with a third mixer to see whether it is the wireless units or if there is some interaction with the new mixer.
Is the phantom power switched off to the channels the wireless is hooked up to?
If you unplug the mic but leave the wireless up can you hear a problem?
First of all, I did the first live gig with my new setup today and heard nothing of distortion at all, so that's great.
I still notice the distortion with my headphones though. I do think now it's at the lowest levels (where the system "decides" whether or not there's a signal?). Nevertheless I don't have this with a cabled mic at these low levels.
Secondly, I did a check on a small Yamaha MG mixer today and on that the signal showed less distortion, but it seemed allmost gated (no compressor or anything hooked up): as if there was a certain threshold above which the signal was just fine: very bright and clear. Beneath it the signal was way softer. There seemed to be a sort of jump between the two levels. I don't know if my description makes sense to you, but let me know.

I can't check with a oscilloscope, phantom power is switched off and I don't hear a thing with the wireless up without a mic attached. But, like I said, I tested it it with two of those headmic's I mentioned and your own lav. They all show this distortion.
So when a piece of gear is working within a system and hear a problem like this it always comes down to ... does the problem lie within a single piece or is the problem part of the system.
All we can do from this end is measure the wireless system and see if the distortion is coming from it. This would require a trip back to the shop. You can cal the service department and start a service order. We'll be happy to measure it. If the distortion turns out to the the wireless we'll fix it or replace it.
