Well, now that some people are starting to get their JTVs, I thought it might be interesting for those of us still waiting to post some specs on their miserable wait. Maybe it will make us feel better knowing we're not alone
. It also might be interesting to see who is waiting for what and from where. I'll go first:
GUITAR WAITING FOR: JTV-59 Black
PREORDER DATE: 9/18/10
RETAILER: Sweetwater.com
I did get an email from my sales rep at Sweewater last Wednesday saying that they were expecting the guitars within a "few days", but he didn't know how many of each type/color yet and that he would keep me posted. This information caused me to immediately transform into some kind of internet drone.....constantly keeping internet tabs open for my email, this page, and sweetwater just waiting for some info.
I'm not sure whether Sweetwater will have enough guitars from the initial shipment to include mine, but I'm hoping.........

I call my sales rep about weekly.
Hoped for dates missed -- 11/17/10: would have been nice to have over Thanksgiving week as I took vacation... 12/04/10: ahh well... 12/18/10 Again took Christmas week off, would have been nice to get aquainted with the 59... This last week, ah well, again.. It's good to see them finally getting into peoples' hands, well ,except mine.... Saw some TSB 59's get delivered from MF and, CG, I think... Saw mostly 69's and a few 89's mentioned, also some from Sweetwater, oh and black and cherry SB 59's. Odd Sweetwater didn't get any TSB's in their shipments. Someone said that's the most sought color of the 59's -- just my luck... ![]()
I said elsewhere on the forums that I quit talking about the JTV with my guitar-playing friends at work. If they ask, I tell them maybe this week, or maybe by Labor Day, who knows... The shipments have seemed rather random so far, as to what retailer is getting which guitars. It is still early in the initial rounds, though. Hopefully things will even out and get into the groove soon.
My 2 cents...
Dave
Wow, most of you guys have been waiting longer than me. See, I feel better already......well, not really
. Heck, I even got excited when Sweetwater put up pictures of the 59BK, and the 59CS but I did notice that they didn't post pics of the 59TS. Guess those babies are in demand. I almost went with the tobacco sunburst myself but the wife said she liked the black one better and, well married guys will know why I ordered that one.
you told your wife that you were buying a guitar? ![]()
Yeah....that was before I figured out that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission! Live and learn.....live and learn......
havent gotten an email from Sweetwater
but I ordered a

Talked to my rep today and he said 1/28. Guess they didn't get many blue ones.

i'm kinda bummed. mine went out for shipping on friday, and usually with sweetwater i got my stuff next day (i'm only like 2.5 hours from them). but my tracking number NEVER showed a status. i began to think there must have been some delay and maybe i wouldn't get it until monday. well, just this morning my tracking number finally showed something, and it looks like it's never even been picked up. sigh. fed ex doesn't service buisnesses (normally) on saturdays, but they do service residences, so if they had just picked it up i could have had it already. now i have to wait until tomorrow!
of course, that's not so bad compared to some of you, so please know that i am sending you a "rock on" in spirit and wishing you the best.

I am having the EXACT same experience. I'm close by (Chicago), and they shipped out on friday but tracking only showed up at all today with no updates at all. I'm hoping it is a fedex glitch and the guitar will show up today
.
good to know there is another, but i'm not going to be too optimistic with it. the only thing that does show up on fed ex is that they recieved the order at 9:15 pm on friday night, and i think they probably didn't come then.
good news is that i got the phone call that it was in early that morning, and after reading all of the posts of people missing items and such, i was nervous that maybe my guitar would somehow miss the 55 point inspection. this encourages me that it all got done.
woot.

My tracking says 9:15pm on friday, too. Hrm. Maybe they were too late for fedex pickup on friday and they'll actually pick it up today.

I've done electronic shipping through FedEx, UPS and USPS. The shipping event will show up in the system the moment the shipping has been purchased (and label printed). So, it's possible that the shipping was purchased late on Friday after FedEx picked up. Still, bummer! I'd be all excited the moment I saw my JTV was on its way. I'd be checking that tracking number every 30 seconds. Okay, I'm kidding. I'd be checking every 10 seconds. ![]()

Fedex picked it up today from Sweetwater and estimates delivery to me tomorrow. I assume you're in the same boat. I know I'm excited to see if it lives up to the hype.
I ordered a 59US Goldtop on 29th July from Guitarguitar U.K. and paid £500 deposit. Bad enough that I don't have the instrument yet but worse is that Line 6 U.K. are just giving me the runaround informationwise. Maybe I'll cancel it tomorrow!
Rich Renken stated a few days ago that Europe would have to wait a few more weeks. Don't cancel now, you will go to the end of the queue!!
It does seem to me that by this time I'm entitled to some specific information about my particular guitar. It's of no interest to me that a shipment is on it's way to Europe if my guitar is not part of it.

No info other than Rich saying there'll be ones sent to Canada in the next shipment.
Hey guys, just want to say, thank you for hanging in there. We appreciate you guys very much.
Thanks Rich, we know you do (at least most of us anyway). Any ETA on the next shipment, or is it still to uncertain to go naming dates?
No, I posted it in the other thread I think. We are getting another few hundred here in the US around the 17th and a few hundred will be hitting over in the UK a week or two into February. I am going over to work with the team there on them and will let you know more when I am there.
Excellent, thanks Rich. I'm more concerned with Canada, actually, but hitting your facilities with a rough date of the 17th gives me a decent idea.
Okay, Long & McQuade just left me a message to say it's looking like it could be the end of March. I'm really hoping they're just going on outdated (or no) information.
March? Oh Canada!
Hi Rich,
Do you have any ball park dates for Australia shipments? I can believe there would be too many pre orders here. I hope that does not mean we are left till last!
Cheers,
Jason
Am I right in thinking that no US models have been received yet, by anyone, despite this website containing photos of them being manufactured back in July? Have Line 6 really got nothing to say about this? B.S.
i'm off this list officially as of today. woot.

It shouldn't because chances are you would have had to send it right back due to manufacturing defect.
At least now chances are in your favor that you'll get one with bugs worked out.
I started reading about those after I posted. Some things, like 'ghost notes' seem like design errors, not manufacturing errors. This makes me question all the rhetoric about the delays being due to Line 6 wanting everything to be perfect. Sounds to me like it is late and buggy.

Well, I ordered a Tobacco 59 last week, but saw a single black 69 in stock at Sweetwater over the weekend and ordered that one. Should be here Wednesday! Still on the list for the 59 as I a) would like both formats and b) need a backup.
Amazing I ordered a blue 69 from Sweetwater in September and I am still waiting.

Part of this has to do with the specific model and color you ordered, and of course the specific retailer. As of yesterday, Sweetwater had two JTV69 black guitars in their Guitar Gallery available for sale (they are not there now, however). Unfortunately I think your JTV-59 in Cherry Sunburst is a popular choice. It sure does look pretty though!
JTV69 TS
Ordered/Paid: August 8th 2010
Supplier :Thomann Europe
Latest estimated Delivery: 21/02/2011
My only comment is some are born to stand and wait...and wait. and wait. and wait....
Don't hold your breath, Pappywatts - here's the email I received from Thomann about the expected arrival date of 21st of January (my order has only been in since early December - I waited till I thought all the issues had been ironed out
):
"I've just checked this with our guitar dept. again, and they had bad news for us: the supplier Line6 has delayed the delivery of their guitars again!
Currently, they confirmed delivery for mid of February, but said at the same time that it might even shift until March...
Very bad news - I'm so sorry!
Can you wait so long, or do you want to cancel your order?
In regards to the pickup switch problem: I've forwarded this question on to my guitar specialists and am waiting for their reply.
As soon as I have it, I'll let you know per email."
To all the Canadians and those waiting in the USA - I know how you feel. The rest of the world is trying to wait patiently for one of these. I'm not cancelling my order, BTW.
To those in the USA who have one that has had to be sent back - the rest of us are hoping that Line6 can sort this out for you ASAP - we've all got a fair amount of expectations and $$ tied up in this, and it's a reasonable leap of faith for all of us.
To those in the USA that have one that works well - you don't know how lucky you are - please keep posting pictures, videos and soundfiles to keep the spirits of the rest of us going - we need to keep re-selling ouselves every day that we're going to get something special one of these days. Please put lots of good photos of the JTV-59 TSB up - that's what I have on order........if it sounds as good as it looks it will be worth it.
To Line6 and Rich: I get it - I understand what you're dealing with. I'm a Regional Marketing Manager within Asia-Pacific for a 52Bn USD top 20 Fortune 500 company (not blowing my trumpet - that what I do), and I understand/work with the complexities of OEM, component sourcing, logistics, product launch, Gantt charts out the wazoo, globalization and factors beyond your control. I deal with a business unit that literally gives sight to the blind - if we don't deliver, surgery does not happen and people don't see. Upset customers does not begin to cover it.
Your new product pipeline is strategically sound and I'm sure you will get 60% of your sales from products designed and made in the last 2 years (which is the ideal), but you appear to be at the mercy of your 3rd party suppliers - maybe some vertical integration would help (cash flow is probably not great post GFC, but you've been brave in your direction so far).
Launching the JTV, the HD500 (I'm still waiting for this too - hopefully this month), and the DT50 in a short space of time (as an integrated approach, too!) is the kind of thing I'd expect from a global market-leader - you deserve congratulations for this. Keep both the R&D and QA/QC flowing (fix the '59 switch asap) and you will give the big 'F' and big 'G' a real run for their money.
Kind regards,
BB
Hmmmm... thanks for your informed opinion and info on Thomann, I won't be cancelling my order, as I'm locked in
to the introductory august 2010 price...Hope it's worth the wait, I waited eight months for a custom built Beltona electro resonator around 2001
which arrived all the way from New Zealand direct to my door in the UK. It was definitely worth it.
Us Brits have queuing ingrained into our psyche, so..... for all the pushy johnny come lately types, I'll stand back and be comfortable
in the knowledge the JTV will arrive eventually...
Looks like we have to wait a little longer in Europe ...
http://web.soundaffectsmusic.com/blog/update-line-6-jtv-variax
We've just had the latest update on the eagerly awaited JTV Variax. The following update it was what we have gleaned from Line 6:
JTV-59 recalled due to bridge issues? LOL. I think not... must be the switch issue only.
Thomann's website have the JTV-59 Black and Cherry Sunburst both down as 'available at short notice (usually 2-5 days)' while the Tobacco Sunburst (which is the one I have on order
) is down as 'shipment due to arrive on 28/2/2011'.
The Tobacco Sunburst must be one of the most popular. At least I have a date to work from.............

Update On Line 6 JTV Variax
By soundaffects24 Jan 2011 at 20:02We've just had the latest update on the eagerly awaited JTV Variax. The following update it was what we have gleaned from Line 6:
- The first batch went to the states just before Christmas and there has been a bit of an issue with the 59's, which have had to be recalled. The issue was with the bridge. This has required further development, and means a further and perhaps significant delay on this model.
- The first 69s and 89's are due to hit the UK in late February. When we say limited, it is literally a handful of guitars. The flow should be better from March onwards.
- The RRPs on the new guitar have been increased, reflecting the further development costs. The '59 will now be £1099, the '69 £1049 and the '89 £949.
- The good news is that for those customers that have pre-ordered with SOUND AFFECTS the price agreed at the outset (i.e. point of order) will be honoured.
Read this post by Line 6's Rich Renken in which he explains the reason for the delay, the price increase, and the JTV-59 switch problem (not bridge):
Hi Martin,
That link to Rich's post (http://line6.com/community/thread/54768?start=23&tstart=0) is coming back with the 404 Error Message.
Kind regards<

Out of curiousity, when did you place your pre-order?
I, too, am seriously jonesing to get my hands on one. I had high hopes that with Rich's post earlier in the month that the new shipment would reach them on the 17th (which, considering that date came and went without any fanfare, I'm guessing didn't end up being the case), we might be seeing them early to mid-February, but the late March estimate from L&M is looking more and more likely. Beginning to wish I had just ordered from a US retailler; might actually have gotten it by now.
Hey Sparky,
I placed it about a week ago, so give or take Jan 17th. can't wait!
Ordered my 69 from Soundaffects back in the autumn; I emailed them when I got their update this morning, pointing out that the "bridge issue" was the first time any of us had heard that! ![]()
Clive
I ordered mine some time between the end of July beginning of August. Been going through the same ups and downs as every one else, but have not lost faith yet.
I ordered mine september last year, and if I get it pre 2012 I'll be satisfied. If rich reads this, you wouldn't have any kind of knowledge of when abouts a few JTV's would be coming australia way? I can't imagine there'd be more than 30-40 on order so we're likely quite a way down the list.
Lachlan, I have asked that question a few times with no responce. The local distributor is also clueless. I am with you in betting we are such a small market we will be way down the list.
Have you been given and RRP yet. I have and I can tell you it is not pretty! Double the US price even though $AU is at parrity with the $US. As much as s do my best to support my local retail store I am seriously of looking at my first import. I think its the only way I will get one soon and at a decent price.
Cheers,
Jason
Yeah my dealer has called the distributor a couple of times for me and it's pretty much become a case of. 'when we get it we'll get it.'
Dunno about the AUS rrp but back in september I was looking at about $2000. Hopefully with the rrp's on line 6 gear and a bunch of other stuff coming down the JTV might get a little closer to the US price. Mine was through billy hyde newcastle if you were wondering.
lachlan.
Laclanc and BigJase,
Why not order your JTV from O/S? There are folk in Europe who can sell you one at a decent price if you enquire - you'll get it sooner and for less. And they will ship to Australia.
The RRP in Australia will be about $2,100 - with the very best discount you can get from a dealer you will be lucky to get one for $1600, and you will probably still have to wait months to see a JTV (to all the US folk reading this, the USD and AUD are almost exactly the same ATM. This gives you an idea of how Australian customers pay through the nose - and wait - and get limited choice - for musical items you take for granted).
PS - I live in Australia
The biggest reason I'm hesitant about ordering the JTV from o/s is the warranty, considering the guitar's function is based around it's electronics there's alot more things that could go wrong. It'd also be pretty tough shipping a guitar internationaly, as it's enough hassle shipping one domestic. Actualy gotta drive to sydney through the week to pick up an ibanez rg because aus post wouldn't send it. If line 6 were offering international warranty on the JTV I would most certainly look into it. But the pod hd's and most of their other products don't have international warranty so I'm pretty doubtfull it would.
I think I'll just move to hawaii, it's pretty much just cairns with american food.
Some of the International retailers have very good warranties that they honour globally - the only downside is shipping your guitar halfway (or more) around the world to get something fixed.
As a long time Variax 700 owner, not much has gone wrong with it, and certainly not with the electronics. maybe I got a good one.
I did have some issues with my XTlive, and had to send that via a retailer to a wholesaler in Melbourne (1,000 km journey) so I'm used to sending and waiting I guess.
GUITAR WAITING FOR: JTV-59 Cherry SB
PREORDER DATE: 30/09/10 (dd/mm/yy)
RETAILER: soundslive.co.uk
COUNTRY: UK
My retailer told me that I was first on their list for the JTV-59 CSB - so if Rich is coming over on the 14 Feb to oversee shipment of the first European batch, I sure hope my JTV-59 CSB is amongst them and that I will soon have my hands on it - hopefully just in time for my birthday in a few weeks time! ![]()
Well they have missed my birthday which is tomorrow, never mind, I suppose all this waiting is character building even though I am fully built.
I take heart that Rich is coming here to the UK on the 14th which does suggest at least a UK distribution not long after. I'm not going to speculate on what that means for the rest of europe.
See what's going on in Europe - and may well be applicable for the UK as well:
I think crying forever is the only viable solution to all our JTV-less lives.
Why are you selling?
i bought another amp...so something has to go, I thought someone on here might like to skip the wait. It is a great guitar, i like the way it plays and sounds,
i just will not really end up using 90% of what it does in my gigs.
surprised at the number of defections.
Thought I'd post this here as welll
Spread the Love Rich.........![]()
Just got two Emails from Thomann:-
First one confirmed the date is .. pushed back to Mid July, but original offer price will be honoured
Second one apologised for delay and confirmed the later date, and would I want to change my order?... Don't think so
I have plenty of git fiddles, and july is closer to my next birthday
So my original statement above "Whether the dealers want us to cancel, and then resell at the now higher price is a matter of speculation."
needs some revision
"Greed is good, apparently it's now legal "............sic Gecko 2010
Of course the next statement is pure speculation...The more people bail at this point, Line 6 and the dealers make more money on the new pricing
and will offset the oncosts of introductory discounts/ and the defects to put right in the first batch. It's a win win, or double dip.
Or is that too prosaic...
See y'all in six months......![]()
