Probems recording/playing back with Line 6 RiffWorks

I have just purchase a Line 6 Spyder Valve MKII head amp which I connect through a mic port to my M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB. It connects to my computer obviously via USB and I can record just fine and play back through Audacity. I just purchased RiffWorks and it basically doesn't work.. When I first installed it couldn't detect my M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB stating it was using my Windows Built In Audio so using the Audio Setup button basically did nothing. I then installed ASIO4ALL and then it could detect the device, and I could even record. However I can't hear the play back... I can see the sound levels rise and fall as I play, but nothing comes out of my spearkers, head phones, or ports on my M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB when I am playing back through RiffWorks. My M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB is set as my default play back and recording device and as mentioned I can listen to music through the device, but only when using RiffWorks do I have a problem.. When I hit playback please note I can see the levels on the recorded audio rise and fall as well, but nothing comes out of my speakers..

You mention that you just purchased Riffworks. What version of Riffworks are you using? The title of yopur post mentions Line 6 Riffworks. The Line 6 Edition is an old (and now obsolete) product. If that's what you are using I suggest you try the newer free version called Rifworks T4.

In my version, Riffworks Standard (a deep-discount price is available for Line 6 Riffworks owners), there is an Audio Setup button in the bottom right corner of the screen. If you can find that in your version, see if you can configure things to resolve your problem.

I think the problem is ASIO4ALL. It's not a true ASIO driver and it sounds to me Riffworks is expecting a true ASIO driver. From what I can see through a quick google serach, your Fast Track audio interface should include a true ASIO driver with it. If you can make sure this driver is installed, and get Riffworks to recognize/use it instead of ASIO4ALL, I suspect you'll be OK.

Forgive me for asking the obvious.... but you do have your speakers/headphones connected to the Fast Track device, not your computer, right?

It doesn't appear the unit is to blame. I think the RiffWorks software has an ASIO bug or is only programmed for specific device support. That is my guess.

Could be I guess - but that sounds very strange. I have used several Line 6 devices with Riffworks Standard (same version you have) as well as with an Edirol audio interface and I have had no problems. Sorry I don't think I'll be able to help you - this one has me stumped. If anything else comes to mind I'll get back to you.

    Hello,

This really sounds like it's more of Sonoma Wireworks issue with the application.

Work with Sonoma support and see if they can help you first. if not let us know and we'll see if we can get you a refund.
