I've researched for months trying to find the perfect pedalboard that I could use to trigger all of my MIDI switching on my keyboard rig. For years I've tried to figure out a way to use a foot switch system to control volume changes, filter sweeps, send program and patch changes and any other MIDI messages that would normally be send via a fader/knob on the face of my keyboards.
This past January I was at the NAMM convention and visited with every pedalboard manufacturer and to my surprise I couldn't find one product that could send Program/Patch Changes, along with other MIDI functionality needed for my live show. Many of them had "some" of the MIDI functions that I require but here's the one question that always got me the same response:
"Can you program the same foot switch to send a completely different MIDI message from song-to-song?"
The answer was always a disappointing "No".
Well my search was over once I took the escalator up to the Line 6 booth and found the POD HD500. Within seconds I was in the MIDI menu. The MIDI functions available on the HD500 surpassed any of the other pedalboards I'd researched. It's very easy to get around and very user friendly. Every MIDI function is available and assignable to any of it's 8 switches and expression pedal.
I also play guitar for some songs during our show so combine everything I've just described along with the new HD amplifier modeling technology that's already built into the unit and you guessed it; my search was over!
I've since purchased a POD HD500 and programmed my guitar tones along with all of my MIDI functions to designated switchs and expression pedal. Now I don't have to stop playing to reach with one of my hands to hit buttons on my keyboards.
THANK YOU Line 6 for implementing easy-to-use MIDI functionality to your already amazing product!
