Having issues with my POD Studio UX2...

Alright, I don't really know where to begin here, but I'll give it a try.
I traded my amp head for a Line 6 POD Studio UX2- new in box through Guitar Center- and it is giving me the biggest problems.
First of all- this isn't my first UX2- had a Toneport a few years ago and it was stupid simple to setup and record with. When I installed the software- POD Farm and Ableton Live Lite 7- everything seemed to work well enough. I then downloaded Line6 Monkey to get all the updates I needed and registered my UX2. Now, for some reason, the guitar communicates with the interface, the interface communicates with the POD Farm software, but the POD Farm software does NOT communicate with the Ableton recording software.I set up the audio drivers in Ableton to ASIO/ASIO UX2 respectively, but no luck. Also, I get ZERO sound through either the speakers or the headphone jack on the UX2. Not only THAT, but upon upgrading to the "Free" POD Farm 2, the interface no longer communicates with POD Farm (1 or 2). Says something about not having a license??? So I took it to Guitar Center and a pro audio associate who is intimately familiar with this sort of thing and he had a crack at setting it up. He did things I don't know how to do (I'm not computer savvy), and made it to where POD Farm would open up THROUGH Ableton. Almost an hour later, even he was scratching his head and said I would need to contact Line6.
So, what am I looking at here? Do I need a new interface? Do I need to uninstall then reinstall the software? Is there anything I'm missing?
Anyone?
I would try uninstalling EVERYTHING, and delete the Line 6 directories, then download the latest software and install that. I would try GearBox first to make sure that works before installing POD Farm
If that doesn't work, then you may have a bad hardware unit and you should ask GC for an exchange.
