HD500 - Recording level

First of all - I'm a complete novice on recording and I just begin to  explore some of the features of my recording software Reaper. So it's  likely an user error but to me the recording level coming from my Pod  recordings seem very strange.

I did a test recording  using a Pod HD500 connected via USB to my windows pc running Reaper  V3.73. Enclosed please find a screenshot of those tracks.

The  first track was recorded using the Pod HD500 and it's level is way too  low to my understanding. Second track was recorded using Guitar Rig4,  Guitar was connected to my cheap M-Audio Transit USB Interface in that  case. I also don't get why the recording from the Pod looks like a mono  track and I can definately see the stereo-track on the Guitar Rig  recording in the DAW. Maybe you can have a look on the screenshot if  that helps to identify the problem.

Equipment used:  HD500 recording: Pod connected to Windows 7 PC 64-Bit, 8GB RAM via USB.  Pod output set to Line, Guitar In set to Normal. I used a clean patch  with a full fender amp model, a tube-comp, reverb and two delays. Master  was set to 100%.

Equipment used for Guitar Rig (track2): Guitar  connected to audio interface M-Audio Transit vis USB to the same USB  port on the PC stated above. Guitar Rig4 was used as a VSTi within  Reaper.

I connected my headphones Sennheiser DT770 to  the Pod HD500 leaving the settings untouched and it would have blown  away my ears because the signal was terrible loud because the master  level was set to full for recording.

Is there any  setting completely wrong? Can this be an driver issue? Driver was up to  date according to Monkey. I did a reinstall of those drivers using the  Monkey software but it did not change anything. Can this be a wrong  setting in Reaper (but why does it look fine for recording from other  sources than the Pod)?

I also did a test recording on  my Sony Vaio notebook running Win XP SP3 and the results recording to  Reaper with Pod HD500 where identical "low" as on the Win7 desktop  machine.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    RE: HD500 - Recording level

    Hello,

I get nice full wave forms in Reaper on my Windows 7 machine with my POD HD500.

Are you using the neck pickup in your guitar? Have you tried boosting the mixer level settings on your patch?

Any chance you could attach your patch to this thread so I can check it out?

Have you resolved this issue? I posted this issue in the Line 6 Recording section today. I am using Logic Studio and also cannot get a useable level from my HD 500 using the USB Audio interface.
