Thanks Don, I knew better than to think that Line 6 support could answer me with a brand name endorsement that works even if a Line 6 employee who owns an 89 has done the replacement. Thought I might be able to get a better answer on the specs from you though. I had already read the info on the link: "- Sealed tuners (16:1 turn ratio)" -- doesn't tell me much that I can tell a sales guy from StewMac.

I searched this topic and read 2 threads from Jan.2011 but no one had actually made the switch to tell me if what I found above will drop right in like the Planet Waves did on my 600. I thought that someone had accomplished a replacement by now, even though it's less likely since it isn't for trem/tuning purposes. I guess because of the overall availability issue, even though black 89s have been in stock for quite sometime, there just isn't much happening on this board like there was on the old forum when I got my 300 and 600. We were talking about nuts, tuners, string brands, transplants, replacement necks and all kinds of stuff back then. So I suppose I'll give it a try and post my results unless somebody chimes in and says "Stop those didn't work" or someone has tried and this or that brand fits, with or without modifications.
