POD HD Desktop / Missing MIDI device

Hi,
According to the web site (compare desktop version), the POD HD should support midi in/out via USB. See link below:
http://line6.com/podhd/desktop/desktop.html
Unfortunatly, after looking/playing around with my new POD HD desktop device, it's seems that it is not true. I cannot see any midi device installed on my pc. Could you confirm?
Can I expect the midi in/out support in a future firmware update (I think this type of device should support that, event the POD HD 300 support that)?
Thanks,
perhaps you misunderstand what it is...
it's not a midi interface... you won't see it on your computer...
you could see it in your DAW to send automation information to the pod etc....
but you really can't "do" anything with it....
that's the same for all the pods even the 500 which has midi in and out....
it can use that to interface with other hardware..... but the computer won't see midi like you are suggesting....
what exactly is it you are trying to do?
In fact, I'd like to send control change message for example. To do this, the device should expose a midi-in device on my computer throug USB connection. FYI, the POD HD 300 allows this since I was able to actually change the preset and bank via MIDI messages sent from my computer.
Using MIDI-OX for example or a custom made program. Since the POD HD desktop is a "better" device (in terms of flexibility), I was expecting the same level of support (which is supposed to be possible based on the web site).
Is it actually possible to send automation data to POD HD from your DAW?
Thanks for bringing this to our attention: the info on that product comparison page contains incorrect info. The current POD HD Bean system software behavior does not provide this option (nor does the HD500).
Sorry about the mis-information. In regards to potential firmware changes in the future, none of us here in Support are aware of what changes will actually be implemented until a few days prior to a release via the documentation released to us then. At this point, no news on any firmware releases for the POD HD Bean is available.
So for the time being, the HD Bean and HD500 firmware do not support MIDI-over-USB data transmission.
Please feel free to communicate with the Product Development team your thoughts, however. This link will take you to the correct portal to communicate with them directly: http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/
In the meantime, I will contact the web developers to correct the typo error on that page. Thank you for bringing this to our attention; sorry about the mis-information.
apparently this process of correcting misleading information takes a few months lol. Got to suck in a few more buyers before we change that pertinent bit of info.
Hi,
I hit the same issue when trying to use a POD HD 500 e.g. to control DAW software on a PC,or start/stop sound loops. I was buying it with information that MIDI-over-USB was supported, thus I expected it to appear like a standard MIDI device in my operating system. It doesn't.
I posted a message to Line6 R&D, hopefully it will get some attention. This is really a pain, as otherwise I find the POD HD flexible and fit for experimentation.
I am thinking of working this around by purchasing an additional MIDI interface, and connecting it to POD HD 500 MIDI ports to make it work with my PC. But of course it would be better If I could do without additional devices, so that I don't have to carry along them whenever I move my stuff. Anyone else had this problem, maybe approaching it differently?
I too am having this problem. This is completely unacceptable. The misrepresentation is bad enough, but the Pod HD really NEED MIDI over USB in the absence of physical MIDI ports for automation of any kind. I have already sent a note to product feedback but I do feel this issue needs to be addressed. MIDI-over-USB was a key determinant in me purchasing the POD HD.
Hi, I too suffer from this defect. I think that it is necessary to solve the hunger for information. Must know will be supported later MIDIviaUSB, and the two reasons:
1) it was stated, and it became a decisive factor when buying for many
2) people need to know whether to wait for the automation. Or it's time to sell the PODHD. It's a shame to wait half a year or more and get a zero result
In this situation you, peranomaly, must take the initiative in their hands and save a reputation for Line6, because my appeal to the link http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/ remained unanswered. It's just a violation of all norms and rules of etiquette.
I'm not an experienced engineer, but I see no reason why MIDIviaUSB can work on PODHD300 and 400, and can not be on the PODHD
Thank, and sorry for bad english, I'm from Russia.
