you need to use HD500 edit...
but i'd get monkey and get updated first if you haven't already: http://line6.com/software/
there is also a search box in the upper right corner of the page...
don't be worried about asking anything though... that's what the forums for!

thanks..it seems when I use the search function that I come up with nothing..usually..I have the updated everything for the HD500....So the HD500 edit is pretty straight forward? thanks again...
The patches I want are from another site and are in the HD500 format...they are not on the LINE ^ site...

when the search comes up with nothing check the icons underneath the search bar... make sure you tell it you want to see discussions... by default it will only show official L6 documents i think...

To download patches, Community>Custom Tone>HD 500>Get Tone. Once you get the tone on your computer, connect your HD500 to your computer with the USB, open HD500 Edit, and drag the new tone to the Setlist slot you want it in.
If you don't have HD 500 Edit, get it in the 'Downloads' section.
You can sort the tones by date, style of music, author, etc...
I suggest you do a Bundle Save before doing this, so you don't lose anything that you might have tweaked, already. File>Save Bundle, I believe.
If you scroll down in this thread:
http://line6.com/support/message/277708#277708 ,
you will find all the HD500 Custom Tones through May 15, 2011. When I find the time, I'll update those to the present.
As far as searching for things in this forum, it is a challenge for all of us, as the search engine is kind of wonky...Search Box, upper right. My only advice is to be persistent, and you will succeed...most of the time...lol.
Edit...when I typed this, I thought I was the first response...a lot took place in a short time, or I took a long time...

after you install edit you should be able to double click them to open the files... then use the send command in edit...
i prefer to drag and drop them in edit to better control the location...
but either way remember to send.

Being a noob to the HD500. What I do is open up HD Edit for the 500. Highloght and select the bank while the HD500 is connected then double click on the patch. It then (for me at least) goes right into the bank I was one say.....6B or 5A etc. Then you will see a little * next to it and the name which should be the labeled on the patch you downloaded. Hope this helps.
