A rookie question

I am completely new to electric guitars so bare withe me. I have the spider IV 15. It comes with the 4 preset models. I have been playing with each to find some sounds that i like. My question is what is the difference between the models? is there a difference, or, with the right setting on the tone controls and the FX controls can i make, for instance, insane sound the same as clean? Also i see all the different tone and FX setting at custom tones but what are the setting for the factory programmed models?
The amp models use different processing, so you will NOT get the Insane sound starting with the Clean setting, etc.
The models base their sounds on what the Line 6 people have analyzed for the basic sound characteristics of the amps in question.
Each of the four tones is based on a completley different amp, that is the difference. You cannot make them sound the same. We don't have the settings for the factory presets, but a reset would get them back for you.

From our reset FAQ at http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4499: Spider I, II, III, IV, Micro, and Valve Series: Hold down the A (or clean) button as you turn on the power and hold the button for 5-8 seconds.
