No sound when volume pedal is selected!

Hi!
I have a POD X3 Live.
I've been using it for a few months now and have done 2 gigs with it.
Both of the gigs and all of the practices went fine.
And since the end of August, I haven't used it because we haven't had any gigs.
And when I took it out of the box to use it last week there was no sound coming out.
I tried direct out and line out. None of them worked.
I fiddled around with it and found out that when I flip to wah pedal mode the sound would come out.
Wah pedal doesn't seem to work, but at least the sound is coming out.
But whenever I flip back to the volume pedal mode then no sound again.
So far I tried doing a factory reset but hasn't helped. Still the same situation.
Your help is much appreciated!
have you tried calibrating the expression pedal? if not search on this forum for the instructions as it's beed asked many times before.
also go into edit mode of the volume pedal and confirm that min is set to a number lower then max, as it's possible to reverse the functions for people who want to have heel down being the highest volume. also check the settings menu for what you've got the volume pedal controlling. you can also turn the vol pedal off int he signal chain. try that.
Thanks Rowbi.
I followed one of the instructions about calibration but it didn't help.
But when I changed the min/max setting on the volume pedal the sound started coming out.
Changing max setting didn't change anything, but min setting, as I increase the level of minimum setting the sound started to increase.
But even then, expression pedal didn't do anything to the level of the sound or wah effect.
So, I got the sound to come out, but the problem still remains. My expression pedal is not working. There's sound coming out on wah pedal mode, but volume pedal has no effect on the volume. Also... I've been reading up on the discussion, I have been noticing my sound getting really thin and sorta... like cheap toy sounding. But when I use my headphone the sound comes out normal. I think there's more problem to it than just the expression pedal issue.
If you get sound with the Wah engaged but the Wah doesn't work and no sound when the Wah is not engaged, that would indicate a bad pedal. As for it working through the headphone out, that is strange. Another indication of a bad pedal is if while you are calibrating you don't see the values change.
HI! I have exctly the same problem as you describe and my X3 is on it's way to a servicecenter. It's sad to say but the quality of today's L6 gear is not so good. I've had to send 2 X3:s and 2 UX8:s to repair during the last year so now I'm a GT-10 user. Wery pleased so far.
Hello,
Your POD sounds like it has a hardware issue so you should contact a local service center and arrange a repair. It could be that you have a bad photo sensor under the expression pedal which is causing this to fail.

Thanks, but is it covered under the warranty?
What's strange is that it didn't act like this when I was actively using it.
It sat in my box for past 3 months and when I took it out it failed.
I just don't get how it failed if it was kept in the box with the foam and everything to protect it from external damage.
If this is a common problem, can I get my money back as an unhappy user?
Hello,
If the unit is under one year old form the date of purchase then it is covered under warranty do the repair will be free.
In regards to getting your money back you can certainly call your dealer and see if they can arrange that for you.

I have the same problem as you describe. need help!
This problem is caused by the black foam ring in the center of the pedal. This ring was shipped unsecured to the circuit board. The ring is supposed to block outside light from entering as the pedal works via light. After use this pedal ends up riding up and dislodges from its position. When you send it to the service center, all they eill do is put this ring back in place.. They dont want you opening your pod, so they dont tell you this. Its maybe 15 screws.... In my opinion this was a bad design. This should be a well known and published issue on this forum and line 6 should also be offering a solution and directions for fixing this very smple problem... Instead they just tell you to calibrate and send it in when that doesnt work. If you want to test for yourself, take the case off, remove the pedal. Put it back together without the screws. Power on and strike a string with your guitar. Cover the wah area with your hand to block light.... Now raise your hand up and the volume or wah will change.... There ya go... Magic wah... Fix the foam and reassemble.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
