POD HD 500 Goes Silent When Selecting Preset

I have some presets on User Bank 1. When I hit the Up and Down arrows then select another preset on that bank it goes silent. Then it will sometimes will cut on really loud and have some static. If I unplug the power to the POD and power it back on and do the same thing, it works as it should sometimes. Sometimes it just goes silent again. What can I do to get this fixed ? I have checked/switched cords and changed guitars. Still getting the same results. Just bought this in April. Hate this is happening but we are about to do some shows and I can't have this acting up like this on stage.

Do these patches have a Volume Control effect in their signal chain?

If so, try saving with the Volume Pedal at 100%.  Try moving the Volume Pedal effect to the end of the chain after the mixer block.

Hey Nick I recall a work around that you had come up with awhile ago regarding the volume pedal but I thought that was for the volume spike when changing presets. I too have experienced occasionally a complete volume drop out on a preset.  I don't want to say it only happens when changing banks but it seems to me that it usually is part of the equation.  I would have to say in reality I rarely if ever use a volume pedal so if the volume pedal is part of the issue I would be happy to go through and totally remove the volume pedal from all the presets that I use.

Re: POD HD 500 Goes Silent When Selecting Preset

I'm having the same issue with my 500. When I hit a preset foot switch (5 -8....ABCD) the volume goes silent. If I hit the same foot switch 1 or 2 more times, it all of a sudden gets really loud.

I'm going thru all the post I can find, but as of yet...I haven't seen where this problem has been completely solved.

If anyone has found the final fix, please let me know. Until then, I'll keep looking and wondering if I made a mistake investing in this thing???

            Thanks for any help,

            Carl

I don't think there has ever been a definitive answer but one piece of advice would be to check your output levels coming out of each effect in your chain in turn.  If any of them are cranked way high then try dialing them down a bit and making up any volume shortfalls elsewhere (e.g. mixer, amp or downstream effect).

It may be that you are boosting way high with one effect then cutting back down with the next.  I think that can cause momentary noise bursts on patch change,   I used to get it occasionally when I first go the pod but am way more conscious of levels within the patch now and never run into it anymore.
