Power for the JTV-69

So I recieved my new Variax a few weeks ago.  Sounds and plays great.  But I find the power supply...well, inadequate.  I have tried what others have suggested-turn the volume down and pull the 1/4" plug out.  But still managing the battery is a buzzkill.

Is it really true there is no non-POD based way to support external power?  It comes with the VDI, interface box and USB cable- I guess this is just to interface with the Workbench software (which it does)- but why could this not be dual purposed for providing power?  Can Line 6 really not supply their A/B footswitch or this XPS-DI supply (which I assume is either the same or similar- but I don't know for sure).

The manual is painfully inadequate to really address the capabilities of the Variax.  In addition to the 'no show' on the XPS-DI, the 'Advanced Guide' also appears to fall in the 'unicorn' category as well. I certainly feel a bit out in the cold on this.  Fortunately members (mostly non-Line 6) of the discussion board have provided some insight into what is required for external power.  Seems there are other trying to scour ebay and other places for any straggling power supplies.

Shame on you Line 6!

...but you know what they say- Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.    I won't be fooled twice.
