I just purchased a hd500. Out of the box it had some workable distortions and sounds. I downloaded some presets on customtone and they seemed to sound ok.

trouble started when I flashed to 1.4. Now the unit is incredibly difficult to get a good sound out of. When I try custom tones or view videos on YouTube with presets it sounds nothing like it. the distortion sounds "sqwark"ish. There's now also a fair bit of noise even on low volumes. I've tried many cables, guitars and even tried changing impedance however it's still the same. If I add the noisegate the sound gets a bit clearer but still not usable. The store also won't take it back due to me flashing the firmware.

Can anyone help? I've just paid $700 for this unit and can't help but feel it's now useless due to the sounds and also the noise.
