FBV Shortboard

Hi,
Started setting up my shortbaord to have effects where I need them but came upon a problem I don't know how to remedy.
It happens on the D footswitch. I have A, B and C set up and use a preset on D but when I select that preset, it changes my selections on A, B and C and I lose my organization to be able to switch between the 4 because of 1 mitigating the others.
How do I stop this from happening?
to understand...
you have custom settings on A, B, and C, and a preset still on D.
when you stomp D, it erases your A, B, and C settings?
It does not erase them, it changes the presets to other presets.
ex.
a=custom 1
b=custom 2
c=preset "concert lead"
d=preset "fingerlickngood"
When I stomp d, a,b and c change to different presets within each bank
I cannot figure out why as I have yet to alter anything on d yet.
what hardware are you using it with?
are you sure your A and B settings are saved?
Yes, I can select them any time.
Problem is, I am setting them up in the order I need them, but selecting "d" and the specific preset causes the A,B,C switches to lose the order I put them in.
I can go back and reset them to the order I had, but it is just frustrating that selecting this one particular preset affects the others.
Spider IV 75
Updated and received the latest upgrade as well.
btw,
yesterday, I was setting up a new tone for A in bank 2.
Now, when I select that one, the others change from what I set up previously as well.
I am at a loss here.
Anyone....??? getting a bit disappointed by the line 6 staff's lack of response here.
This whole set up is brand new out of the box, bought September this year as my bday present.
take your pedal to your local music store and plug it into a line 6 amp. save some settings and see if you're having a problem. this will tell you if it's the pedal or the amp.
worth a shot.

This is the Lounge, just a general chit-chat forum (like an off topic forum). I'm not even sure Line 6 support look at it. If you want tech support for your amp I would suggest posting at:

The only thing I can think of is that you are not understanding the way the FBV works. The FBV does not store your patches, your device does (in this case the Spider), so I'm wondering if you're trying to re-order your sounds on the FBV when in fact you need to do it on the Amp, perhaps via Spider Edit? (I have never used this program so that's a guess on my part).
did it work before, or has it always been doing this?
I am just discovering this as the unit and amp are new.
The response to your other question:
"do your custome settings always change back to the same thing?
how are you saving them in the pedal?"
I can go back and re-select the settings and they will stay selectable as long as I don't press "d" that I have 'positioned' (for lack of a better word) to activate when I am playing.
ie: I have each bank set up so when I need to call up a preset or custom tone, I load it on each so that as the song indicates, I can just press the appropriate a,b,c or d.
I just don't understand why they get changed when I press d just because I have it set to a preset called "fingerlickngood". at that point a b & c are no longer set where I had them and I have to 'bank up or down" to get back to them.
I have made the custom tones in the amps controls. The fbv shows me the same thing as the display on the amp.
I don't create them or save them in the pedal. I don't think that is possible, at least not by reading the FBV shortboard's manual.
Sucks that they comingle it with pod and other stuff, it gets confusing.

Sounds like you are using it correctly. Did you try posting on the forum I suggested?
I'm a bit bemused to be honest by your description.
Have you tried the obvious: a new CAT5 cable between the FBV and Spider?
do your custome settings always change back to the same thing?
how are you saving them in the pedal?
so it sounds like they ARE NOT being deleted. you just have to go to the other bank to go back to them?
any way you could make a vid of it? i'm still a little confused....so when you press D, it switches banks now?
are you using more than one bank? if so, the banks are blocks of 4. if you have something saved in Bank 1-slot A, but are playing in bank 2, you'll have to go back to bank 1-slot A to play that saved tone.
...OR....are you just hitting bank up/down to do kind of a "reset" of everything? and then everything is fine??
example:
A-custom 1
B-custom 2
C-custom 3
D-preset
Can play back and forth on custom tones ABC just fine. Hitting D "resets" everything back to...
A-preset
B-preset
C-preset
then you hit bank up, then down, and it goes back to normal?
A-custom 1
B-custom 2
C-custom 3
D-preset
You got it.
I will post a video this weekend.
btw, haven't sent this issue to line6 directly yet. that is next.
I figure it may help anyone else who has this problem to have it posted here as well for any results.
Ok
I noticed one thing that may help shed some light on the issue and I think I can now ask a more intelligent question to find a solution.
I noticed that all the custom settings I put on A, B, & C are all on bank 16, while D is on bank 7
Selecting D changes A, B, & C to the presets in their relatives in bank 7.
Same happens when I do the same on the other channels.
If I switch any channel to a different bank #, the other channels follow that bank but with their
presets relative in that bank number. ie; Channel A bank-1a selected makes channel B bank-1b, C bank-1c and D bank-1d.
Here is the question: How do I make each channel independant of the other in terms of bank changes not affecting the other channels?
I know I can go into the FBV Control program and change the order, but that is a temporary solution until I need a preset that is not 'in line' with the other banks (a, b, c, d) contents.
ie; I want to have A on bank 16a, B on bank 2b, C on bank 16c and D on bank 7d.
man...i have such a hard time following your descriptions... ![]()
if i'm following you right, you can't do what you want...at least not in the way you describe it.
Each BANK is a block of 4. no more. no less.
Bank 1 has 4 channels: ABCD
Bank 2 has 4 channels: ABCD
etc, etc, etc.
you can leave them as presets or save custom tones, but if you save something in Bank 1/ch A, that's where it's going to stay. if you then switch banks and want to save another custom tone in Bank 16/ch B, that's where it's going to stay.
Selecting ABCorD is only selecting that channel WITHIN that particular BANK.
you can't change banks by selecting A,B,C, or D.
Are you trying to save custom tones in ABCD on different banks and then thinking the pedal will hop around to the different banks by selecting ABCorD?
i know my shortboard doesn't work like that, but maybe some of the other pedals (pods?) do.
Thanks for the effort of hanging in there with me.
It sounds like you understand my issue and it also sounds like the answer is that I cannot change the behavior
of bank selection to be independant of the channels.
ie: if channel A is set to bank 16, B, C and D will all be in their respective banks equivalent of 16 and I cannot set each channel to a different bank without the other channels changing as well.
correct.
why does it matter what bank it is?
i (mostly) use only 4 custom settings and i've saved them all in bank 1. ABCD are all custom (still tweak from time to time) in the same bank, so i never have to worry about changing banks.
if the time comes where i need more sounds, i'll start playing around with bank 2. ![]()
______________
if the reason your custom tones are on different banks is because you've modified the presets at those locations, you can change them around by hooking your amp up to your computer (never done it, but i believe you can).
Yeah, got that one figured out on the spider edit program...still not the most savvy on the lingo and all but i got your point. Just was hoping I didn't have to go through all that.
