Spider IV 75W problem

Ok so today I bought a Spider IV 75 watt at guitar center. When I got home I set it up and plugged in and it was working and sounded fine. I also bought a FBV Express MKII. So I plugged in the FBV to test it out and that worked fine as well. I have some presets on Line 6 edit and wanted to try and get them on my amp. So I hooked that up. So this is what was set up: guitar into amp, usb chord conectinmy computer to my amp. So I tried to put a preset on my amp and it didnt work so I just thought I'd try later. But here's where the problem is: I unplug the usb connecting my computer to my amp with my amp turned off. So I turn my amp back on and it doesnt turn on, all that happens is the LED lights on the amp models dial are lit at the same timem all that comes out is this really loud and deep statoic sound. The orange screemn on the right of the amp is not on either. I tried unplugging and switching outlets but still the same thing is happening when I turn my amp on. There is also this wierd, faint smell in the air since that happened so maybe it possibly overheated and it needs to cool down? Please help me!

First thing you can try is a factory reset.  WIth the power off, hold the 'A' button in while turning on the power.  Keep the button pushed in for 5-8 seconds.

Did you update the flash memory in the FBV and amp before trying to use Spider Edit?

If the problem doesn't solve itself with the factory reset, take it back to GC for exchange for another unit.  A 'smell' may just be the dust and stuff burning off because its new.

It's hard to say what happened exactly, but somewhere during the USB connectivity may be a clue. What I'd recommend (if you still have your amp and FBV MKII controller) would be a Monkey re-flash of the amp's firmware.

If you need help on how to accomplish this, refer to this video please: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2081

A re-flash of the amp's system software could restore the functionality of your amp during runtime. Please give that a shot, if possible.

One thing we should get clarification on is the USB connection. You said you connected the USB to your amp. There is no USB jack on the amp. The correct connection is USB from computer to FBV MKII pedal, Cat5 ethernet cable from FBV to amp. Connecting the Cat5 cable from your computer to the amp can damage the amp. If the reinstallation of the firmware that Perry points out doesn't help, you'd need to take the unit to a service center for repair: http://line6.com/service_centers/.
