POD HD500 USB Damage

My New-ish POD HD500 has evidently suffered some damage to the USB receptacle.  Not sure how it happened or when but it was working fine before and now it will not communicate via USB and it looks to me like the inside of the USB port is damaged.  In all other ways it seems to be working fine. Is there a quick and easy way to replace the USB port?

Also, I thought that perhaps I could hook up the midi cables and regain edit capability via midi but HD edit does not see my POD.  Is this normal? Is HD edit meant only to work via USB?

I've double checked that it's not my USB cords...they work fine with other peripherals.

If the USB socket is damaged I would suggest you'd have to get a Line 6 tech to replace it for you.

The HD500 Edit user guide says you need to connect via USB. So I wouldn't expect Midi to work.

Does your USB port look like mine?

See my photo in this thread:

Check the USB you were using for POD, that's what happened to me. It stuck to the cable end, doesn't matter though, if the pins are bent it work even if you got the block back on..... Check the other thread listed above, a couple of people has had this replaced under warranty so mabye you can to... I would not suggest replacing it yourself because you have to take everything apart and solder the new one....I would tech to a quialifed amp tech to see if they can replace if the warranty won't cover it...Cost would vary because everyone charges a different rate per hour....Good luck, please keep us updated on what happens...

You make a good point...It would be great if Line 6 made it possible to edit and transfer tones through Midi since the USB is not the most reliable thing.... Sorry for your damage, it does suck!!
