Hello,
I'd like to purchase a HD400. But i want to make sure it will work great with my Marshall AVT150H Head. What would be the best way to connect these?
See attached picture of the back of the AVT150H Head
Also how can i switch between using the AVT150H's guitar tones with the HD400's effects, and using the HD400's effects and tones (with no Marshall tone from the head)?
For what you describe: you will want to use the four Cable method (AKA 4CM). This allows you to switch between the Marshall's pre-amp section (distortion and tones) and the HD's modelled amps.
What I am not 100% sure of is how well the HD400 copes with 4CM. The HD500 and Pro cope very well, the Bean - just about and the HD300 not at all.
The HD400 has an FX Loop so can do 4CM in theory but I don't recall anyone around here actually doing 4CM with the HD400.
Anyone?
