Updating Firmware: Why say "no" to saving presets?

I don't understand why if you've backed up your presets and upgraded firmware, why you would choose NOT to keep your old presets? Why would you choose to lose them? Is there some kind of benefit that I'm missing? If you say Yes to keep them, are you then not getting the changes contained in the update, to any models or FX that you are using in the saved patch?

What then happens if I immediately import my saved setlists or bundles? Are they the "old" unchanged sounds on a new system, or the old ones but now "updated"? I never understood why they say to do it this way.

And of course, found NOTHING via a search relevant to this. And I know it's been asked before. Nice.

Thanks!
Jason

because sometimes  new firmware includes new factory presets and the only way to get them is to say 'yes'  to replacing the existing presets. For instance, HD500 firmware v1.4 (I think it was) included a whole new setlist with presets for bass, acoustic guiitar, and vocals.

Of course before updating you should use HD500 Edit to save your existing setlists/presets. Then you can simply restore them after getting the new ones. You certai nly don't have to recreate them from scratch.

Some of the firmware updates include new factory presets, so if you choose to save your existing presets you won't get those presets in the update. If you want the new presets and your existing ones, just backup your existing ones before the update, overwrite everything, and reload your existing ones.

It's a good idea to backup your existing presets before doing the update in any case.

Also, sometimes updates will change the sound of your existing presets. It all depends on what's changed in the update.
