Proper cabling for this setup?

Hi everyone,
Based on jimsreynolds' helpful responses yesterday, I picked up an HD500 for evaluation. I have an Alchemist half stack that I'll be running it into. FWIW, it has a parallel effects loop (ugh). I have some questions about the right cable setup to use. I'm assuming I'll need to run some variation of 4CM but not sure of the exact way to set it up.
For the time being, all I need the HD500 for is fx in front of the preamp and in the amp fx loop. I do not need the amp models but would like the possibility of doing this in the future without having to mess with the cable setup too much.
Do I configure as such?
guitar > pod guitar in
pod fx send > amp input
amp send > pod fx L return
pod 1/4" L output > amp return
If that's correct, how do I manage the pre/loop on the HD500 itself? Do I insert the FX block in between the effects with the left side of the FX block being pre and the right side being loop? Do I need to be concerned where I put it in the chain with respect to the amp model if the amp model is disabled? What about the mixer block?
Sorry if this isn't written clearly... hopefully I got my point across. ![]()
Hi,
Not a problem, I'll mark this thread as answered. Just incase it's:
1. Wire: Guitar into the input of the HD500
2. Wire: Effects loop send of the HD500 into the input of your guitar amp
3. Wire: Effects loop send of the guitar amp to the effect loop return of the HD500
4. Wire: HD500 output into the effects loop return of the guitar amp
Thanks,
David
